Sly, nice choice! Chongqing is the most worthwhile city to visit in China. The riverside view of Chongqing in my opinion is even better than the one of Shanghai. The advantage of Chongqing is that it is a city built on mountains. So the skyscrapers could be stacked layer upon layer on different level of the mountainside.

Where can you find $30 per night for a lodging place that is as nice as this one in the US or European countries? I have not seen anything like that so far. The the Western nations, especially in the US, everything is superficially high price because they are built with profit driven and capitalistic mentality. China is so populated but everything is in orderly fashion and very safe. I never worry about things such as pocket picking, robbery, sexually harassment for women in the public, car break-in, drug addict, or homeless unlike it is now explosion in the US. I feel free, relaxed, joyful, and confidence in general when I am in China. I don't know why, most foreigners traveling to China always feel curious about everything about China even things are normal in their home countries. I think one of the reasons for this is because they have been fed too much with their bias media toward to China. Their impression about China before they got there is a totally different, mostly negative, backward, and sometimes a scary place. They are shocked once they get off the airplane and walk into the airport. At least that is what happened to me. I was blowed away when I entered Beijing Daxing International Airport and of course more and more positive surprises once I travelled to more places in China, including first tier cities and countryside places during last 20 years.

it's difficult for a first timer without a plan or itinerary. a traveler has to do the very basic research of what he wants to see, how to get from point A to Z, lodging cost, place to do laundry if he spends fair amount of time on the road. from his past vlogs, Sly simply winged it as he went along. seasoned travelers pick this up gradually and developed the sixth sense (danger) quickly on the road.

I think the little white dish looks like pickled lotus roots or radish. Normally they’re appetiser with savoury and sour taste and is very refreshing. 😊 The weather in Chongqing and other west parts of China is more moist than the east coast and that’s why they eat a lot of spicy food to get moisture out of the body. 😅

The white stripes' surface texture is too fine to be a white radish (蘿蔔) or Chinese yam (山藥). Plus these vegetables are not cut in shape like that and not normally be placed on its own. I am guessing they may be chopped White Asparagus (白蘆筍), a pricey seasonal vegetable during April ~ June, a bit more fitting on a business class menu.

Sly, glad to see you're in Chongqing, my hometown! Western part of China indeed is generally more difficult for foreigners to travel, but relatively speaking I believe Chongqing will be fine. It's an international metropolis after all. During late spring / early summer, it rains a lot in Chongqing, but mainly at night. You get a high chance of clearing up during daytime. Btw 9:57 the guy just asked where're you from
