an engine like this makes ME proud of the FE
@turbo32coupe6 ай бұрын
I'm very impressed. This combo made 60 hp more than my 452 cu. in. FE. I attribute this to the excellent TFS heads vs my Edelbrock heads. I have pulled the rocker studs out of these heads before, not fun. Nice job. Who said "carburetors are a dead technology"?

Your customers need to know that you can get a kit so that you can run your power brakes off your power steering pump with out any problems and it's cool if you need that extra room but also good when building engines 😊

This is the engine Brent built for me, for my son’s 1967 S-code Mustang fastback. Haven’t even fully got it broke in yet; about 400 miles on it so far. Another 100 miles and then we will change out the transmission fluid (new TKX), and should be ready to head to the dragstrip. Brent did an amazing job for there, although I will correct one thing he said- this engine is to serve as a 80% street/ 20% strip engine for this application. We know we will have to change out the valve springs every so often, and eventually the lifters too.

My recent build, following your ideas made 420 hp and 450 lb feet at just a tickle over 5500. At the rear wheel in 3rd with lockup on. I absolutely love the 445 combo. Way more power than I need in my 68 Ford XL. She's a bit over 4k and runs Great. Thanks

Still, years later, don't see TFS heads for the FE available for purchase. Brent, you must have bought them all!

TFS doesn’t even list the head on their website.

My 472 cubert Cadillac engine makes 657HP with just a 3 angle valve job on the stock heads, ,550 inch lift cam, and the stock intake port matched to the heads.
@PaulCTownsend6 ай бұрын
Nice job. How much vacuum did it make at idle. With a manual transmission on deacceleration at 6,000 RPM have you ever had the intake gaskets sucked into the intake ports?
@geraldyates89586 ай бұрын
That’s a lot of HP for 10.25:1 and a dual plane intake. Wonder what it would be with 12.1:1 or more and a single plane intake? And of course more RPM. A beast!

Hey Brent, thanks for sharing the rocker stud info. I'd been thinking that the extra rocker pad height had to have been a benefit for extra thread engagement/ holding power. Nice to know you can get 600+ on the spring pressure. So that said, what rocker shaft/ stands/ rocker did you use?
@dresdensvo6 ай бұрын
Have you had any problems with the intake fitting after putting on new Edelbrock FE heads ? I have , it needed a intake gasket over 1/4 inch thick .

Is it a stroker moter? Im not to firmilar with the FE motors just worked on a few. Im building a 410 now with good cnc ported head n gonna run a charger on it. Love the videos buddy..

I should have watched the video more a 390 block. What would you say the Hp range is on the factory block? And have you ever installed lifter valley girdles? I never have run them n was wanting to get your opinion on them thanks

Please tell me that it was a mistake saying 120-130 pounds pressure on your valve springs.

Brent you said the strong flow numbers and dyno results are a testament to the excellent induction package. I agree but it’s also a testament to how you responded to the customers needs by using your knowledge and experience to plan the build and select the right components to make it happen. I like your choice of the D4TE block. It’s a solid foundation for the application and avoids the additional costs of an aftermarket alloy block. Using quality components like TFS heads and Molnar rods provide performance with reliability. This 445 FE will look great in the customers classic Mustang !

Harland Sharp, and unfortunately they gave us multiple breakage issues within the first 100 miles . We swapped them out for T&D, and so far, so good since then… but only have 400 miles on the engine so far.

Don't understand the Ti retainers. There are a number of tool steel lightweight choices that will work just fine unless you go with Ti valves then i understand; but you better DLC everything.
@lykinsmotorsports6 ай бұрын
No need to DLC everything. I've got 1200 hp 8500 rpm engines that don't have DLC coated parts. Titanium will always be lighter than tool steel when the size is the same. A lighter valvetrain requires less spring load. Less spring load is paramount for this kind of build.

I would have liked to see the rocker arms, especially given that rocker shafts on FEs are interesting. Also, what crank? No mention of that. No specs on cam either, other than that it is a solid roller. @DakotaGT, are you wanting Brent to keep that a secret?
@lykinsmotorsports6 ай бұрын
Scat cast crank. I don't give out cam specs. I work hard to get where I am with them.
