@@JayAri This is not tea egg. It's braised egg. I was born in Taiwan and I grew up eating it. As matter of fact, I still make it from time to time. What you do is you put boiled eggs in the gravy of the pork, the minced pork and the pork knuckle that you guys just had, and slow braise them altogether! So what you guys are tasting in the eggs are soy sauce, five spice powder, a little bit of sugar...etc. Definitely not tea leaves. Tea egg=茶葉蛋. Braised egg=滷蛋. In Taiwan minced pork and pork knuckles go with 滷蛋
I was born in HK and now am living in Taiwan. I m so glad to see you love taiwan's stuff. Hope Ari and Jay will visit Taiwan and enjoy more food here. We love you!
Winston Churchill 's ancestor was equally brilliant in their contributions to England. He was the 1st Duke of Malborough who defeated King Louis 14 of France.
The method in english is call soy braising, so it is call soy braise egg and soy braise pig trotter. Tea egg is use tea leaves to braise the egg so not the same taste. The best soy braise outlet its sauce is pass down for generation .

So nice to see you guys spending quality time with your in laws. 😊
Jay & Ari, just letting you know those aren’t “tea eggs”, they are “braised eggs” (滷蛋 cooked with soy sauce). Also…a small fun fact, Taiwanese beef noodles was created in the military villages set in Taiwan from people who emigrated from mainland China after world war 2. At that time the military villages were like a mini mainland China with people coming from different parts of China, they missed their own food, so they created the 紅燒牛肉麵 based on the flavour of Chengdu beef noodles, adding a bit of Shanghai ingredients, etc.. so it sort of became like a fusion flavour. Today there are different types of broth such a tomatoes soup based and clear broth.
