american soldiers had a lil trick where they would make the ping happend on purpose without actually running out of ammo the enemy would think it was their time to advance because they where trained to look out for the ping to advance or return fire n get shot down emmediatly lol.

Nah nah 'cuz the ping is louder than the PaK 40 firing a high-velocity 75mm anti-tank round! Like bruh! It would alert your position! /s Plus if you ever run out of ammo, you got other guys with loaded Garands besides you, a Tommy/Grease Gun guy, some bloke with a BAR, or if you're lucky, near an M1917/M1919/.50 cal guys or even a Sherman or idk, some Brits/Canadians/Aussies with Enfields/STENs/Owens/BRENs/Vickers but NO THE PING IS LOUD AND WILL EXPOSE UR POSITIONS1!!1!!!
@slopcrusher34822 жыл бұрын
I think the myth is spread by WW2 vets through misinterpreting what they heard. It’s plausible that if you were close enough to someone that you could see the cartridge fly out, then you would know their gun is empty. This was probably spread as “a Axis soldier can hear your ping!” When it obviously isn’t true.
@nadarith10442 жыл бұрын
The middle of a factory floor is constantly loud as fuck yet the distinctive but much quieter sound of something being dropped that wasn't supposed to be will cause everyone to look at you, just because a sound is much louder doesn't mean it will drown everything else out, brains are pretty good at filtering sensory data once they're exposed to it long enough, and adrenaline boosts it even further and not every gunfight was accompanied by a fucking artillery barrage or machine gun fire, smaller skirmished between individual squads were very common

@@evilroberto4024 Neither of those are true, America uses squad tactics and have multiple weapons so if a German tried to rush when they heard that sound they'd either be killed by the person who reloaded using his sidearm or be killed by a squadmate, that is of course if the ping was loud enough to be heard over gunfire and screaming which it isn't.
@adonisparts13433 жыл бұрын
@@franciscomaia3299 Oh yeah cause you totally can't detect when the enemy is reloading by the large gap of time he isn't firing, and you can just charge at a lonely American that totally doesn't have an entire squad with him that has fully loaded Garands or pistols, submachine guns, m1 carbines, etc. And I doubt some german soldier is going to hear a tiny little ping considering they're fighting at a distance with the sound of gunfire around them, and it's even less likely a competent german soldier would "charge" when the reload process isn't even that long.

@@BMK500 I guarantee you that ping isn't loud enough for enemy soldiers to hear it. Even if it did let the enemy know you were out, there's more American soldiers who probably aren't out. Seriously I don't see a realistic downside to the ping.

I read somewhere that some soldiers in WWII, in close combat, used to carry extra stripper clips and throw them on the ground after their first shot to make the enemy believe they needed to reload and were momentarily vulnerable. Big surprise when the enemy came rushing up and the M1 still had ammo.
@thffkfltm Жыл бұрын
I think the reason why so many people love this ping sound is because it's also the sound that fought for freedom and peace. There must be a M1 rifle somewhere in the world that made the last "ping" sound at the end of WW2. That must be the sound of war ending to everyone. Thanks M1.
