How to assemble the cylinder head on the M120 V12. Also going over lightly grinding the valve seats to clean them up.

So many parts!! Nice, clean work area, too. My father and his brother once rebuilt an engine (carberated V8) way back in the day, probably in the 50's during a sandstorm. You guessed it. The thing would not turn over, the dust locked it up. Clean is good.

Fascinating how such a mammoth engine features such tiny parts 😀

I apologize for not seeing your comment. I'm not getting alerts. Yes, it's amazing how they make so many tiny parts work together.

Amazing work, thanks for taking the time to make these videos, I have the same car and I learned alot from you. Are you going to post the rest of the videos showing the complete reassembly of this massive machine? I went through the whole M120 project on your channel but I couldn’t find the final videos for this project.

@edlopz1722 I'm not done with the videos yet. I'm still looking for a complete car to take apart so I can have all the electronics and accessories for the engine. It would be easier and cheaper than buying each part individually.

Thanks for these very enlightening videos. I am working on a M120 myself and i notised some differenses. My valve springs are double counter turned, yours are single and seems to be tapered ( to avoid thread interference in compressed mode due to thickness?) A way of saving weight on the valve train? Mine is a -92 as far as I have figured, my pistons has some coating on the top and passed the first compression piston ring, inna darker colour than the Aluminiumin the rest of the piston, at least you new piston did not seem to have that. Nothing that bugs me really, the question as always, are there improvements madeor is it the finance dide of the company that has entered the arena and made things cheaper?

Youre very welcome! This engine is a 1993 I believe so that could be why? I'm not sure when these parts were made. If they're more recent than NOS then I'm sure there are some technological improvements that have been made in the manufacturing process but everything will still be made to the same specifications. Or maybe the decided they could get away without including the coating to save money?

Hey, subscribed and love your series on the M119 and the M120, as I also have one of each. About the M120, where do you source your parts? I just went looking for a new crankcase breather pipe A1200183212 for mine and found a whole lotta NLA. Same for the intake gaskets A1201410280. I assume you're gonna replace these on your M120 with new? I'm beginning to wonder if these old engines are maintainable in the long run. Sad if they're not . . .

I get as many parts as are available from the parts department in the dealership I work at. I am in the same boat for the breather tubes and intake gaskets not being available. A lot can be found on eBay if you want the factory parts. Other than that, some aftermarket companies make the gaskets. One part I am having trouble with is the seal for the timing chain between the cylinder heads, it seems to be made of unobtainium.
