I served on two murder trial juries over the years (one a Federal hit-man case and another a state (CT) murder case, both of which resulted in guilty verdicts and I am shocked by this Read case. The case by the prosecution has more holes in it than a giant sea sponge. The evidence against Read is essentially non-existent. There is, however, a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to a cover-up. A not guilty verdict will be reached by the jury very quickly.

Defendants have every right to be present at sidebar. Most don't and just let their lawyer tell them what was discussed. But she has the legal right to go to any sidebar

If she gets convicted on even that charge, it will be easy street to appeal b/c John was drunk too and she did not cause his inebriation and the fatal mistakes he made that night. His drunkenness could have caused him to fall and be out of view of her mirrors. His drunkenness could easily have caused him to not be able to get up after a fall from a 24+mph hit, if the hit were even indeed a given. His drunkenness caused him to rely on her for a ride even though he would if sober know as both a cop and a regular Joe, that she was "over the limit" to drive. Hell, his drunkenness could have caused him to date her in the first place. The list goes on~! Easy appeal.
