As someone who has Crohn’s disease, I’m so mortified for Karen regardless of whatever anybody thinks she is guilty of. This disease is embarrassing as hell and normal humans can’t fathom having this kind of illness where you never know if you’re going to essentially have an accident in your pants anywhere you go. For Proctor to make fun of her disease and her body functions is disgraceful. We as disabled people already deal with so much judgement and fear from normal society. Here’s a law enforcement agent treating a chronically ill person like a joke. I pray him or his family never gets a disease like this.

And frankly, substitute any “othering” word for his abominable use of her medical condition ina joking way- sub race, class, place of national origin, mental illness (well he did that too!) The pejoratives have no place in the language used by professionals dedicated to service to the public at the very LEAST. Disgusting, unconscionable and utterly unacceptable.

Undisputed his comments were off the chart unprofessional, rude, juvenile etc…. But the REAL issue - He had closed the case and formed his opinion by 1/29/22, when the first texts were sent to his friends. He did NOT investigate ANYBODY but Karen Read. Based on casual questioning of the other involved parties- ALL of whom he had a personal relationship/connection too. WHY did he hate Karen by the evening of 1/29? He had been fed an earful of personal information by the other “suspects”. How else did he know about her health issues? He literally had to have been told that by big mouth Jen McCabe. They are the MOST disgusting people on the face of the earth.

Exactly!!! there was no investigation here, he decided who was the culprit right from the jump, he didn't even wait for the ME's report. In fact from the text messages it sounds like he was pressuring the ME to give a cause of death that fit his theory of the crime! And now it's starting to be clear to me why we are 22 days into this case and we still haven't heard from the ME. His injuries are not consistent with a vehicle collision and the ME knew it but settled on "undetermined" to appease Proctor

Also want to point out, her standard for asking people to speak up is "I'm going to ask you to speak a bit louder so all of the jury can hear you. Even those in the back. Thank you" With Proctor it's just "Speak up!" Based on her demeanor, the Judge might heavily dislike the defense, but her disgust and loathing for Proctor seems to overrule it completely.

They didn't want to have to have him testify. They were desperately trying to avoid it. But all Lally's attempts at trying to establish the foundation for the vast majority of their "evidence" through other witnesses failed, so they were stuck having to call Proctor or most of their "evidence" would have been excluded and the jury wouldn't have been able to consider any of it. Calling Proctor was pretty much unavoidable at that point or they would have no case at all outside of a completely unbelievable Jen McCabe claiming that Karen essentially confessed.

Replay Crew: just as an fyi, THIS JUDGE is the one who decided the expert witnesses would be voir dire of these witnesses. She made the decision to do so in the Motion in Lemonade held the Friday before jury selection began! This is ALL on her! Also, if you read the common wealth’s motion they filed last week to exclude these expert witnesses, Ms. McLaughlin cites case law that was overturned on appeal! Additionally, Ms. mcLaughlin basically contends she does not understand the experts, which frankly is a common wealth problem. Let us not forget that the inverted video ADA Lally used to mislead the jury, by not disclosing it was inverted, was gotten about 2 weeks ago and NOT given to the defense at all. Which is why the defense objected and this Judge allowed in over that objection. Rule 14 cuts both ways. So yeah all the F*ckery first thing this Monday morning is inflicted on the common wealth by the common wealth.

I don't care if you think Proctors texts were jokes or not. They were severly crossing the line and showed that he wasn't unbiased and objective. I would be surprised if he still has a job after Jackson is done with him. If this is how lead investigators are allowed to talk about the person they are investigating, then I question all of the cases they investigated. I excused myself from the table and walked home and never spoke to him again. In my 20's I dated a "Christian" Navy SEAL (sniper), against my better judgement, and the abuse - physical and emotional - the controlling behavior, entrapment, and DISTURBINGLY SICK things I discovered he AND HIS ENTIRE SEAL TEAM did with underage girls (& photographed) on each and every deployment was APPALLING. He stole nearly all my belongings, all my money, kicked me out on the curb with nothing except the clothes on my back & threatened to kill me, or have one of his team do it, if I ever reported him, because they were trained killers and were good at making people disappear. He said my family would never find me. I've never looked at cops or military the same way again.

I wonder what the black books had on the DA, if anything, or if it was just them all wanting to keep the brotherhood clear. It’s a complete nightmare, imagine if none of this came out and they got away with doing this to her and nobody knew any of this!

Oh, I think the judge does believe Yanetti about the defence not having the prep time with the federal witnesses, EDB. I think she's saying "if indeed you have not spoken to them" because she's trying to make it sound like either Yannetti dropped the ball, or that he is lying. Ironically, I think she might be playing to the media. She probably doesn't want to say, "yes I know I tied your shoelaces together and then didn't let you untie them, but the fact of the matter is that you still have your shoes tied together, and I don't allow that".

My husband and I have been discussing taking our teens to Boston for fall break this year. I went to Boston as a 17 yr old on a school trip and greatly enjoyed the history there. But after this trial, we are saying with only a small touch of sarcasm “Do we really want to travel to the area, knowing these people are investigating if something happens to us there?!?” The corruption and ineptitude seems to be so pervasive that I am embarrassed for them! I’m sure this type of thing unfortunately happens all over, but my goodness I’d hate to be a nice law-abiding citizen in this area… I’d be nervous with Canton, Boston, OR the State Troopers in charge! It just seems that everyone from the small towns to statewide and from the newest troopers to the veteran supervisors are all this way. Unbelievable.

Absolutely agree. I know of some good LE, but the appeal of power and brotherhood and authority can really lead to some thinking they know everything. I have relatives who presented as this before they were military or LE and it only got worse after, with the vocab especially! The trial I was a juror for was basically only a trial because an officer added his own understanding or language to a stay away order and days after arrested the defendant. After all the argument from both sides, we just wanted to see the document to see the specific language of it, which didn't specify distance at all. So we decided the defendant did her best to stay away from the other individual at an outdoor public event, where they couldn't Even see each other, or was this person telling that person they were there. So if that officer had said, hmm, let me see the order, yeah, doesn't specify distance -problem with the order so it's up to whomever what "stay away" means. (My favorite part was when the prosecutor in his closing arguments, slipped and Said defendant stayed away. Like yeah, she did stay away. Thanks for confirming what the evidence showed!). But instead he listened to what one person said the order said, or has his own ideas and stuck with that.
