The police officers, firefighters and paramedics were being defensive because they know what a horrible job they did. Regardless of whether the people of Canton believe that KR is innocent or guilty, they should be horrified by the culture evident from this sampling of their first responders. These first responders don’t believe in being held accountable, in admitting when they are wrong and in evaluating what they can do better. To them, they did their best and they did their job and that should be good enough.

My theory on the up charge was to see if they could get a confession on body cam footage. I think they realized they didn’t have anything or enough and then they went too far with that. It will come back to haunt the CW because Lally said in open court that the MSP policy is to wear body cam in murder investigations and they did not wear/record any witness statements.

I wonder if the cause of death wasn't something much more accidental and simple. But they kind of fumbled the first part of this whole deal poorly that maybe they decided they needed to do something significant in order to make themselves look better? Idk. But the further we get into this, the more likely I think it was just down to something like him drunkenly stumbling in just the wrong spot in the yard. Hitting his head. No one noticed b/c visibility was poor and everyone was at least a few drinks deep. Maybe the broken glass cut up his arm when he fell. But I am still VERY suspicious of the missing hat and shoe. Side note... I have a Subaru, my mom has a Honda, my dad has a Dodge... all three of those vehicles have automatic braking when in drive or reverse. It would he hard to really hit someone in reverse. I'm not sure it would let you automatically over ride that function in reverse like you can in drive. But I'd think a car as upscale as hers would maybe record when it has to engage the automatic braking feature. So I'm interested to see what kind of data they got from the vehicle itself.

Yeah, especially if they are arguing there were fights about infidelity during their New Year's trip. I can see if she thought he was cheating and they fought and then things might not have been completely great but they were in the makeup repair part and both trying real hard. And so far the only evidence produced is one person saying she said I hit him with others having differing things she said. And then a glass? But evidence yet to connect it to Karen other than it was similar to the ones at the bar. But now we see other ppl at the waterfall so unless everyone else has beer bottles. But again, like I have glasses at my house that are similar looking to what Karen was drinking from - so it could have come from the house. She drops him off at this house, he is supposed to go hang out there with others, what time are the others coming back to the house, would they not see him on the lawn if they were going to the house?

To the general public, this is shocking an appalling. However, you’ll notice how fervently they continue to lie and defend their own actions. This is, sadly, not surprising to anyone who knows or has seen the lengths cops will go to in protecting their own and covering their own misdeeds. Police departments are the most corrupt, violent and disturbing element in this country. They are never held to account for their actions and the harm they inflict on society on a daily basis because American society props them up as ‘the good guys.’ On the exceedingly rare occasion one of them is held accountable it’s simply a sacrificial “bad apple” while things continue as usual…until the next time. And Americans just swallow the lie whole-cloth.

Ok rewatching cause I had adulting crap... so the fight stuff in the bar... if that carried on back at the house, and John attempted to break it up and Albert's dog attacked him... SPECULATION... but that makes sense to me that shit could have got outta hand quick!!!! They've already been drinking and getting into grab ass. German Shepard do not understand nuances... if that 100lb ish dog believed his owner needed defending... that could get deadly real quick. Especially if it headpieces at the top of those basement stairs we keep hearing about. A bite and a fall could account for all those injuries. I had a German Shepard as a kid... that almost killed a neighbor. I feel of my bike he ran to help me... all the dog saw was me bloody w a man standing over me... the dog went through a front door... broke through it, and ran and lunged and put his teeth into the guys arm and neck. We both left in ambulances. My dog wasn't even a man dog before that day. He just thought the man was hurting me. So.... SPECULATION BIG BIG BIG SPECULATION, but um... give it some thought.
@shkrjam847 ай бұрын
This is what I think happened. Some kind of physical or even an intense verbal altercation, JO got too close to one of the Alberts, and the dog intervened. Now, whether the head injury was a result of a fall from the dog or a punch and then him falling back and hitting his head, I can’t say yet. And one has to wonder, if he had a head injury and went stumbling outside, maybe they let him stumble out and hoped it looked like a drunk stumbling outside. Or was the injury so severe, death was more immediate and they took him outside. I think him not realizing his injury was fatal and then stumbling his way outside is possible.

The prosecution constantly asking about KR bringing a glass to the 2nd bar feels a lot like reaching for straws to prove the OWI charge 🙄

So what I’m hearing is don’t have friends and just stay at the house, especially in a snow storm. This trial is def solidifying my inclination to be a hermit.

I'm not from the US so I'm kind of new to the legal system there - why do different courts have such different routines? I don't recall seeing the incessant "good morning"ing in previous trials I've watched here? After the first 4 days it almost gives like a condescending kindergarten impression.
@stephanieforman91467 ай бұрын
I feel like that partially is because of the judge’s annoyed demeanor and tone of voice. 😢

Emily, would you ever be chosen for jury duty or due to your knowledge and skill as a lawyer, they would not pick you ?

Does she have to go through answering the exact same questions her husband did on small issues? I think Lally could leave out 2-3 of every 10 questions he asks....do all the witnesses have to tell us when the games were and who they were playing??? Don't the lawyers have to ask questions that lead to a significant piece of testimony? I mean asking who Cantin HS was playing isn't evidence in the murder case of John O...

@TheEmilyDBaker why does the defense keep asking "We've never met, correct?" Such as @ 32:16 Also, I found your channel during Depp v Heard, and I just LOVE watching these hearings that you comment on as you make it so much easier, and entertaining, for me to understand!! Thank you for creating interest in the judicial system!! I honestly believe you're helping to inspire future GOOD attorneys everywhere!!! So, thank you! Everyone else-- I'm just watching this case now, so I don't know what the outcome is. No spoilers please!

Possibly because they're trying to establish Karen (and therefore them) as outsiders and all of them as a little club. Plus they're also trying to imply they've been coached or influenced by Lolly.

Shouldn't they wait for the investigation to be over until they decided to charge someone and go to trial?

I'm just getting around to this video and OMG. I forgot about attorney Kolokithas testifying that when they left the Waterfall at 12:10/12:15ish, it was cold and just beginning to snow a little bit, there wasn't even a dusting of snow on the ground. Yesterday Matt McCabe testfied that when he looked out and saw Karens SUV was gone there were noticeable swerving tire tracks on the road. How did a light snow accumulate on the road in 15 to 20 minutes for that man to see swerving tire marks? And if he's that observant, how did he miss seeing a 6'2", 217 lb. man in the front yard?

Okay so, the glass was not Karen's. So she could've dropped him off with that glass still in hand. He was still maybe wearing his hoodie because the EMTs said he was wearing some light hoodie. So where was his baseball cap and shoe? He went into the house!! Right before John walks out with that glass, he talks to a guy in a beanie. I'm assuming that's Bryan Albert since when I rewinded to 54:07, only guy in a beanie is who the attorney identifed as Bryan Albert (though he's wearing a sleeveless padded jacket but the long sleeve shirt under looks the same).

From seeing the video from the Waterfall bar my first impression is that Brian Albert seems to be aggressive playfighting also O'Keefe leaving the bar with the glass he was walking steady and without any visible signs of being drunk also O'Keefe had his glass in his hand walking into the house and the glass broke when he was attacked inside the house and when being carried outside and left on the lawn the glass was taken out and placed with O'Keefe , we are talking about police officers who knows how to clean up a crime scene just speculation.

My big thing is, who brings glasses from the bar? Like, how does a glass in the snow mean it’s from the bar? I could understand if it was a beer bottle, but don’t bars like to keep their glassware?
