In this video I'll show you how to make a spicy kind of Korean icy cold noodles called bibim-naengmyeon. It's ice cold and made with a slightly sweet, vinegary, spicy sauce, and cucmber and pear. When you eat it, first thing you need to do is mix it up in the bowl, which is why it’s called bibim, which means “mixed up” in Korean (like bibimbap - mixed rice).

Hence the fact that my other half is the one cooking most of the time as like you his appetite grows while cooking. Thank you for introducing us to one of the most flavourful cuisine. I didn't either. But I have one Asian market near and it doesn't have everything but I just started gathering what I could. So I started with pho. Really delicious, very expensive unless I make it yourself. And I did. Now my goal is to find more markets in my area until I get everything for Korean foods. I always write down ingredients. I'm sure if you watch it all the time you know a lot of the ingredients yourself. So that's a good place to start and that's how I'm starting.

Dear Maangchi, Thank you for your video. Could you please help and please tell me where I can buy these Korean chewy noodles to make Mulnaengmyeon or I think you call it Bibim Naengmyeon. I live in Japan and I have checked with Amazon Japan, but they do not sell these noodles. I have lived in Korea and I love Korean food but now I live in Japan. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Best regards John E

Thanks for your interest in making this recipe. You will have to find noodles for naengmyeon. www.maangchi.com/ingredient/buckwheat-noodles And this is a list of Korean grocery stores in Japan. There are probably more stores but these were submitted by my readers in Japan. www.maangchi.com/shopping/japan

Hi Mangchi! :) I have a question! Apart from the egg is 비빔냉면 vegetarian/vegan? Or does the stock from the packet have some beef ingredient? Thank you for your wonderful recipes :)

I think most nengmyun packages are made of beef... But I could be wrong. :/

Yes I believe the broth is made of beef. You could however replace it with your own broth :)

The broth usually has beef or fish. But you can make your own.

+MsWannabeGamer Ⓥ I would skip the pre made broth and make a mushroom/kelp broth.
