We are located in the Seaport district as residents at the Autodesk Technology Center! It’s an awesome space with tours so if you want you can visit :) And yes, the Mini Mill is a great little machine.

willingness to temporarily rent a bobcat to dig a ramp and use a sledgehammer to bust concrete block. I am eyevalling ...hungarly the HarborFreight concrete saw now. R U willing to put a hump in the floor above for headroom ...it can be desguised upstairs in many ways. Even when I put a shorter tormach in I had to cut the floor joists some

Hello. Thx for sharing this. I guess that you have a 6K belt driven spindle ? Is it enough for machining aluminium ? Max torque is at 1200 rpm with such spindle. With the 10K spindle you have the max torque around 4000 rpm. I'm currently thinking about buying a minimill and therefore I'm hesitating between the super and the classic version, due to this spindle difference. But it seems to work good for you with the 6k ...
@tarkka5 жыл бұрын
Nico S This one has the 6k spindle. If you’re doing aluminum using mostly small tools below 1/2” I think the 10k spindle is a no brainer. You can also get a 15k as a special order.

Is the dx6 still your go-to vise? I’m asking because my Mini Mill is being delivered tomorrow! My rep sold me a DX6 but I feel like I would be better off with two smaller vises.
@tarkka3 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the new machine! No complaints with the Kurt products. You'll always have a need for a 6-inch vise, so it's good you got it, but having two smaller ones on hand can really improve productivity for two-op parts. There's a good Haas Tip of the Day where he walks through the economics on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKbXhKegpbx9mc0

I'm new to CNC, but holy cow... You're shooting coolant like you expect to get 5 years out of your end mill
@tarkka5 жыл бұрын
With this machine the coolant is either on or off. There is no further adjustability. That being said there are several benefits to using lots of coolant. Tool life like you said is one, which includes lubrication for the tool, cooling of the tool and workpiece, and chip clearing/flushing, which will benefit the tool and the surface finish of the part.
@kylejenson46845 жыл бұрын
That's a totally normal amount of coolant. You should see some of the bigger/high-speed machines using a chip wash and flood coolant just to keep chips clear.

As a professional cnc machinist I can say there is no such thing as too much coolant.

Just wanted to leave my opinion. What a piece of junk. Work this machine too hard (right) and it breaks. Saw the NEW one we had break the z axis lead screw. SNAP !!!. FN amazing . They should have placed a Dremel label on it. Am from CT.
