Team natural scroll, 100%. If I swipe up on my trackpad, I push the content up. On mice with scroll wheels, however, that makes less sense. In the end, it's all about muscle memory and what you're (willing to get) used to.

The funny part is that Andrew say he doesn't like natural scrolling "If I want somethings to go down, I scroll down not up" and he even do the gesture of... natural scrolling. Andrew, try natural scrolling for a day, you may never come back and that would be one less settings to change ;).

Yup. Agreed. I'd love to see Apple allowing to manage Natural Scroll separately for Trackpad and Mouse. Currently changing it for the mouse also changes it for Trackpad which is annoying as I'm used to "Natural Scroll" on the trackpad.

@@gagarine42 I just rewatched and he demonstrated it correctly. “If I want to scroll something down, I’ll scroll down” *swipes fingers down* “not up.” *swipes fingers up* which is how you would swipe down with natural scrolling enabled.

Yup, I agree. I have natural scrolling on as it feels right with the trackpad but it feels wrong with the mouse. I think there should be 2 different selectors, one for trackpads, one for mouses. I don’t know why they haven’t added it yet.

@@krishnandusarkar I know why that is, actually. I own a Magic Mouse and since it has a touch panel instead of a wheel, you apply natural scrolling by automation. A standard mouse has a wheel instead. It's just another Apple ecosystem thing, I guess.

@@YosemiteWay i was on windows before mba, was using the trackpad behaving same with the natural scroll on macos. It is same with every phone. Content follows your finger. But the problem with the macos is, same setting also changes the behavior of mouse wheel. On windows, content was following my finger when using trackpad and mouse wheel was controlling the scroll bar.

I find ‘natural scrolling’ to be a stupid label. Also, the reason why it makes sense on a phone is that your are directly dragging with your fingers on the surface. Rather than scrolling the scroll bar, you are dragging the actual page itself. On a desktop you are not ”touch and dragging”, but moving the scroll bar (with the scroll wheel or by dragging). This is a reverse concept and therefore Apple should have left the desktop way of scrolling on macOS alone and not touch it with this stupid “natural scrolling” concept. If the option was needed, why not call it “Touch-style scrolling” and keep the option off by default?

It's not "natural scroll" is Apple's problem. It's only natural in a touch interface, if you're touching the screen. Which in macOS you don't. So therefore the "natural scrolling" idea doesn't work.

Team natural scroll, but what has driven me nuts about macos is that for some reason, natural scroll on trackpad and on mouse is linked. On the trackpad, I like natural scroll, I hate it on a mouse though, but whenever you change it for either trackpad or mouse, it changes it for the other. So recently I've just been sucking it up and using the unnatural scroll for the trackpad cuz I use a mouse 90% of the time...

This is puzzling to me. Why would I want to swipe down on the mouse scroll wheel and not have the content match that scrolling direction? It’s an odd contradiction to see comments where people have fully adopted natural scrolling in the trackpad, but can’t seem to translate that to the scroll wheel. Perhaps it’s just more deeply ingrained in many people’s muscle memory because of how far back it goes. My first Mac was a plastic white MacBook, and the scroll direction was not the natural scroll direction that comes standard. I just got a new MacBook Pro 14" and I immediately turned natural scroll off. After using the device for a bit I found myself scrolling the wrong way constantly. Which is weird because the Alienware 13r3 laptop I had, I also used the normal (not natural) scroll settings on that trackpad. So now I use natural scroll even though I despised it. I guess my brain is tricked into thinking I'm using a touch screen because the trackpad is so good? I'm not sure anymore.

Turn on: Use trackpad for dragging Dragging style: Three Finger Drag. Now you can drag any window (on the top bar), icon and other stuffs with 3 fingers. That's is awesome and I don't know why is not inside Trackpad menu.

Stage Manager works best when you only have one screen... I do video editing and have multiple monitors... in that configuration Stage Manager needs to have all the monitors in separate spaces... which means that each screen has a menu bar across the top and manages the Stage Manager function as if was a separate screen rather than a single desktop... I don't really care for Ventura. Monterey is just fine to be honest. The new settings app is hella confusing, nothing is in alphabetical order, features for power management they moved from the usual location to different and separate locations, it's hard to find the exact setting I need. Stage manager has been garbage... I had to turn it off and so do several I know who've been testing Ventura. Seems like in the latest beta they now have the ability for a given app to have all of its windows displayed on a stage so that opening a link to a website in a new window, for example doesn't push the current window to the background like has been happening on prior betas. But stage manager is still broken because it doesn't work properly on multiple displays. The main display has the pane for apps on other stages, but that pane for the various stages doesn't show up on the other display... this is a bugged out nightmare. Stage manager is like a solution in search of a problem that no one has. Instead of releasing this bugged out window manager that no one needs, Apple should refine the macOS interface and add features that are only available via third party apps, like the ability to close windows from mission control, or the ability to snap windows to a grid (which is offered by apps like Mosaic or Moom or magnet or rectangle). And Ventura has some bugs on Intel machines; with a connected Goshen Ridge-based TB4 dock, when the Mac goes to sleep, upon wake, the dock crashes, and the thunderbolt devices connected to the dock disconnect... none of this occurs in Monterey. This is unacceptable. I will be avoiding Ventura like the plague until maybe 13.3 or 13.4 when they work out all the kinks. Thanks, but no thanks.

I really don't understand why not providing a simple app-switching, alt-tab experience ( across all windows not just applications) with a nice preview without taking realestate on the left side. Also - the finder and folder is terrible, even browsing through a folder of images is bad experience, you have to click one after another. Lastly, application windows behaves in a weird way - safari can't go full screen on windowed mode, when you enter a full screen application other winfows re-size themselves when you exist , very annoying. such a shame that top notch hardware is paired with poor user experience of mac-os. I am having an issue with the Finder on my MacBook M1 Pro. When using it to search for a file, either directly from Spotlight or from the search bar in a folder, I have found that when I type in a phrase, such as "wireless keyboard," it will search for files that have that name, as well as all files (PDFs, Word, Excel, etc.) that contain that phrase within them. It also searches for images that have the name written somewhere on them. This feature is very effective and useful for finding what I need. However, this feature only works if I am searching on the Mac's hard drive or iCloud. In other words, it only searches for the phrase within files if they are on the Mac or iCloud. But if I connect an external hard drive to the Mac and perform the same search on that hard drive, the Mac will only search for files that have that name and will not search for the phrase within the contents of the documents or images. This has raised some questions for me, as this feature is very useful and I am frustrated that it is not working for the documents on my external hard drive. I would greatly appreciate it if someone who has experienced this and found a solution could share it with me. Thank you.

Team unnatural scroll. That thing is totally unintuitive and it's the first re-set I always make. Right if you want to go down, scroll down. To scroll up, go up.

mac vendetta Only thing, I want to know is how to change the lock screen. Every time I turn the MacBook on, the standard venture (orange flower) appears, and I'm not fond of it at all.

never liked the "natural scrolling" feature, it drove me nuts. I started to get used to it just because it was the default but was very excited when I found out I could turn it off.

Note: hide my email feature is part of the ICloud+ subscription. I guess in your version the System Settings window is a bit wider that the latestproduction version. Is there a way to set this width ? I'm not an Iphone user so I feel that his screen is too narrow 8ˆb

gestures and interface is horrible when using mac os. I am forced to use mac last 5 years and I still find it horrible to use. Not able to have different icons on the dock for each edge or chrome profiles, you have to use gestures to switch between apps or different apps. file sorting is horrendous in Finder. buggy when switching between apps with gestures. mission control sometimes doesn't show to titles for full screen apps. many more things!

Very rushed presentation. For example, when you were demonstrating smart folders, you didn’t complete the process, leaving me to guess what the benefit was. It helps if you complete an action and not rush into the next topic.

stage manager is one of the dumbest features from apple. They need to stop trying to do things "their way" sometimes and just copy what exists from windows and linux that works great. I had to install a third developer app to be able to do things that I could do with Linux and Windows out of the box

Are you kidding? Natural Scrolling is one of the best things! Windows should adopt it. Think about how you scroll on your phone, when you want to see the bottom of the page, do you scroll up or down?

How do I change or diable the window/tabs that are on the side when you minimize the window? I don't like this format and prefer the previous versions.

Natural scroll. My girlfriend and I opposite on this. But mine stems from years of using mice...it follows the sidebar movements, not the page.

Can someone explain to me the point of stage manager? So far it is just showing open apps on the left handmade, couldn't I just switch apps using the dock where I've been doing so for years? What is the appeal of this feature?

Agree about the natural scrolling. Natural? Unnatural. How did they ever come up with that? But this has been around for ages.
