For those who aren't Asian Chinese. Mr lau's recipes are very authentic and for someone like me that is in his 50's and "Cantonese" his recipes are very much like how we ate it at "home". The techniques are similar as well! ❤ So know you are making it just like many Chinese families or Asian food foodies authentically cook it.😊

I’m Chinese and lives in Hong Kong. I also cook but I really like to recommend Mr. Lau’s cooking. It’s authentic with clear instructions without all the Cheffy stuff. It’s how we cook at home. Cheers Mr. Lau. I watch and appreciate your videos.
@JimSlaughterOC11 ай бұрын
Dear Chef Lau, I've watched a few of your videos and really appreciate your very clear instructions. I don't speak Chinese but with the subtitles and your very clear steps, it seems I can do it myself! I'm even learning a few words of Chinese along the way. Thank you!

Well also just a lot of the younger folks (read, me LOL) don't really have time to spare for prepping a whole chicken when we also gotta juggle homework, studying, exams, and even work. Something relatively simple and easy with low prep like this that can get us 80-90% of the way to the full chicken recipe is perfect.
@Lala-gy7cn11 ай бұрын
😂 I’m not young but I was too lazy to make the full soya chicken yesterday so I’m glad he’s got a lazy version

OMG. I have been wanting to know how to make soy sauce drumsticks for a while now and just haven't come across a simple enough recipe for lazy people. LOL. So, here comes Daddy Lau to the rescue. It looks delish and I will give it a try. Thank you, Daddy Lau. And your grandkids are so cute and adorable!

Thank you so much for this recipe. My mother used to make this at home when we were young but I lost the instructions for cooking it so I'm glad Daddy Lau shared it with us. Also, your children are absolutely adorable!

We use drumettes and chicken wings. The collagen from the wing leeches out a bit. We love the sauce over rice. It’s fatty, rich and umami.

my parents used to make this and I got scared when they said they had to use almost a whole bottle...but since i'm only making for myself, this recipe is a lot better for me and it doesn't need that much soy sauce can't wait to try it!

I am more lazy in the past in Australia cooking Soy sauce drumsticks for my housemate: using the all purpose marinade/Chicken marinade from Lee KUM KEE instead of mix the two soy-sauce and spices 😅

So you marinate with Lee kum Kee sauce before cooking? If yes, for how long?

Made this last night. We poured some sauce in the steamed rice. So delicious! 多謝 Mr. Lau 😊
Really appreciate the time and dedication that's gone into this entire channel. Wishing daddy Lau a long healthy life, I have learned so so much for him and every single recipe I've tried has turned out so dang good.

We appreciate you so much! Thank you for the kind words.
My first time making this was about 2 weeks ago. I woke up reminiscing about a particular flavor I had during my childhood and it so happened to be this one. I'm pretty sure my mom made a dish like this when I was younger. So, I made this and to my surprise it was delicious 😍🤩 I hope it's ok, but I added potatoes and sliced onions 😌 this is currently a household favorite now thanks to your dad 🥰 I have added this as one of the dishes to make for my family 💗

in my family we just chuck it in a mesh bag and leave it to hang dry until it's desiccated to the level you see here. it then goes into a container for storage

I just made this chicken, and it's rly good. Flavourful, and tender meat. I used green lemon zest , and added a little bit rice vinegree, bcuz it was not bright enough for me. Maybe bcuz i couldn't find Shaoxing rice wine, so i used Mirin instead.

Really delicious. This drumstick recipe is so good. Was craving it again and used chicken thighs - should have cut off most of the fat (wasn't thinking ahead). the rich fatty sauce would be good to braise tofu later on though when i run out of the rest of my chicken.
