Well, Chicago had three great vocalists in their best and most successful lineup, Peter Cetera (bass) sang this song and did most of their later, softer rock. Terry Kath (r.i.p.) had the lower, blues type voice and is crushing lead guitar on this and Robert Lamm (keyboards) sang Saturday In the Park and others... I highly recommend "Beginnings"

In case you didn't know, that's Terry Kath on the guitar, one of the best underappreciated guitarists ever. Imagine having Hendrix say you're the best guitarist around lol.

When they were known as The Chicago Transit Authority, they were playing at The Whisky A Go-Go in LA. In the audience was Jimi Hendrix. CTA was coming out of the dressing room to do their second set and standing there was Jimi. Trombone player James Pankow told in interviews about what happened next. Jimi said to them, "You guys have a horn section that sounds like one set of lungs and a guitar player that's BETTER THAN ME! You wanna go on the road?" They said "YEAH !" and that's how Chicago became Hendrix's opening act on tour. There were talks of Chicago and Jimi Hendrix recording together, but sadly Jimi died before that could happen. Hendrix and Terry Kath had great respect and awe for each other.

Tanglewood is such a great venue. Back in the day they had great rock performances, but nowadays it’s mostly the Boston Symphony Orchestra and classical music. They do have popular artists and James Taylor plays there. He lives in the area. So great to sit out on the lawn under the stars and take in a performance.

Yep. Terry Kath wrote it and sang lead vocals on it. Appropriately titled to introduce to the world an incredible new band with a sound not heard before like theirs. Tower of Power and E-W-F are close. The founding seven members were so incredibly talented. To truly appreciate their skills and range one must experience James Pankow's "Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon" in one continuous sitting. This seven movement suite on their eponymous second album features the Terry Kath vocal hits "Make Me Smile" and "Colour My World".

Chicago at their peak. First two albums were in the all time great category. They had some great songs after these first two albums but never an album that was on par with I and II. They had three singers Biz: Robert Lamm, keyboards and vocals; Peter Cetera, bass and vocals; and Terry Kath Guitar and vocals. Peter Cetera was the singer on this one. Look up Beginnings from this same concert to hear Robert Lamm sing and Make Me Smile from this concert to hear Terry Kath on vocals. It's Tanglewood 1970. The whole show plus certain key songs are all on KZbin.

Looks like they were having a blast playing with each other. No fake production. pure sounds. Jimi Hendrix loved Terry Kath and Chicago so much, they toured together. Hendrix said that, he is better than i am. wow what a compliment. Chicago had some trouble getting signed to a contract, do to there jazz influence. As a result, they had 6 completed albums, when they were signed. This resulted in their first 3 albums were double albums. That guitar solo was amazining

Great react. Could tell you dug it. I can’t say anything that no one else has said. Terry Kath really is jaw droppingly amazing. Check out their song “Smile”. As for Peter cetera singing in this song, he’s been voted as one of the most unique voices though the register is apparently standard tenor. “Color my world” is another great song they do. For the same vibe but different music but just as awesome, check out Traffic song “The low spark of high heeled boys” live 1972 I think it is. Just a great live band.

They had 3 singers that were lead. Terry Kath the guitarest, Peter Cetera the bass player, and Robert Lamm the keyboard player. When they wrote songs they would figure out who they best thought sang it the best instead of just by who wrote it, this was amazing but I never really saw mistakes in the selections.

This was written by Robert Lamm, who is a keyboard player and singer for Chicago. It's about trying to write a song, with the title referring to the time of day: either 3:35 a.m. (25 to 4) or 3:34 a.m. (26 to 4). Lamm explained on The Chris Isaak Hour: "I was living with a bunch of hippies up above Sunset Strip. One of the advantages of this particular house was that it was in the Hollywood Hills and I could look out over the city late at night. I wanted to try to describe the process of writing the song that I was writing. So, 'waiting for the break of day, searching for something to say, flashing lights against the sky' - there was a neon sign across the city. That song came from the fact that it was 25 or 6 to 4 a.m. in the morning when I looked at my watch - I was looking for a line to finish the chorus.

This was the original lineup of the group Chicago which started in the 1960s. This here was 1970. They are actually still performing, but with a different lineup. They have 37 albums at this time (11/08/2023). That lead guitarist name was 'Terry Kath' in whom Jimi Hendrix spoke very highly. Sadly in 1978, Kath took a revolver to his head, thinking it was not loaded...and BANG! He was only 31 years old when he died. It was a REAL TRAGEDY! 25 or 6 to 4 meant 3:36 or 3:35am. It was about a musician trying to write a song, and he was up all night - and now it was 3:36 or 3:35 am. The man didn't say, "Take Care", but he said, "Terry Kath"!. The man who said it was the one on the keyboard, "Robert Lamm." Please also react to their song, "I've Been Searching So Long" - thank you.

He laid it all on the line for the audience, and we all are the beneficiaries so many years later. Is there a guitarist alive with that much energy, speed and skills? I don't think so !! Terry Kath was 25 or 6 to 4, the other great players in that band joined him for the ride !
