Gina Kearney AMEN!! So childish & clueless! It pisses me off because Madonna’SMs songs always have a story or message and the videos are full of symbolism, but kids nowadays just don’t get it! They should watch MATERIAL GIRL and see what message they get out of that! Lol

Guys, I enjoy watching your reactions to Madonna, but listen more carefully to the lyrics so you can understand the symbolism in the videos. Madonna puts a lot of symbolism in her music videos...there is always a story to tell. React to Cherish, Open your heart, Oh Father

Soilofk You´re 100% correct. Guys when you watch a video of Madonna, here´s an advice: there are many details to be seen. If you spend a lot of time, for example, talking about Gigi, it really becomes difficult to understand the content. Yes she finds out she is pregnant. The video deals with teenage pregnancy.

The song was about pregnancy, and it discussed abortion. The church was up in arms over the song..it became one of her most iconic songs. This was the first time she really pushed the boundaries on what you could talk about in music.

Another hugely controversial Madonna single. Religious groups were out in force protesting against Madonna and teenage pregnancies. They used to make videos of pregnant women singing "Madonna don't preach" - You should do Open your heart, Like a virgin (blonde ambition version and of course American Life

Guysssss you are funny....This song is about abortion. She is pregnant and her friends and dad wants her to abort but she wants to keep it. Lol
@ImmortalBroken
@ImmortalBroken 4 жыл бұрын
@@nickydee719 Well her friends want her to either abort or more likely "give it up" for adoption. Her dad is just pissed she had sex, and since they're (implied) Catholic, I doubt he wants abortion. But yeah, Madonna made a song and video specifically about NOT getting an abortion and still managed to whip up controversy. That's just her greatness. (And the craziness of the world.)

@Jungle Bunny Yeah she got more experimental and explored more underground stuff in the 90s. Just more my style. If she'd gone away after the 80s she'd still have a great legacy but what she did after that is why she's a legend and so beloved.
@FindingMadonna
@FindingMadonna 4 жыл бұрын
@Jungle Bunny Yes, most of her biggest pop hits were released in the 80s and, as I said, she would still have a great legacy based solely on that. Maybe you lost interest in the '90s, but it's what she did during those years, from "Vogue" to Blond Ambition to "Justify My Love" and Erotica to Ray of Light, that made her a groundbreaking revolutionary and icon. She's a beloved artist because of what she achieved collectively across both of those decades and I don't need to take a look at your channel to know that.

Hey Dandy and Handsy. I love these Madonna reaction videos you guys are doing. I like that you are learning more about the Material girl through rediscovering her early years. I also love how you are trying to understand the songs as you watch them. This video was a commentary on the surge of teen pregnancies that started in the mid-to-late 80s. Parents were kicking their teenage daughters out because they got pregnant. Danny Aiello was a popular actor at the time who played Madonna's character's dad in this video. This video was quite controversial for the time period in which it was made. And you can see now why Gigi Goode was praised for her Madonna performance. I recommend you guys check out "Lucky Star" for your next reaction video. This was her first ever music video and also the look that Jan was emulating on RPDR. I can't wait to see what you guys think of Madonna's first ever video and how she has changed over the years. Keep up the great work guys. :-)

She’s pregnant!! Song was controversial at the time. This video was so huge at the time. It also was the debut of Madonna’s new look, after she chopped off her hair.

"They didnt have social media so the following back in the day was a little different" i lol'd at that one. She's freaking pregnant lol that's why she was so scared to tell her dad. Since you're reacting to all the songs that the girls did on the episode, you should react to Express Yourself and Music music videos :) oh and the Girl gone Wild, Vogue and Bad Girl music videos are pretty cool too

I heard that this was another song Madonna was notoriously famous for because this song was about Teen Pregnancy. And yes, Gigi Goode did her justice by looking EXACTLY like her but come on, do I eed to keep hearing about Gigi more than how you feel about the song? Love you guys!

Come on you guys! She's singing about keeping her baby and not getting an abortion or giving it up for adoption. I remember the day this song came out. I was driving home from a little vacation to Lake Tahoe when it came on the radio.

Papa Don't Preach (1986) from the Album True Blue. And yes, the baby is a child is not the guy from the video. When she mentioned that she wants to keep her baby is because she didn't want to abort. That's why her father is upset and forgives her at the end of the video. It was a very controversial video in the 80s because it was seen as a way for young girls to get pregnant.

If only they paid closer attention... True Blue was Madonna's biggest album of the 1980's. It became the first of her two Diamond selling albums. The first remix/greatest hits album of its kind, The Immaculate Collection is her best selling album to date with over 31 million copies sold and remains the best selling compilation album. Back to True Blue. Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, and Live To Tell were such great #1 hit singles along with the #4 hit, La Isla Bonita. The rest of the album is pretty of its time, but the hit singles remain evergreen. Also, they should shorten or change the outro. Matter of fact, the channel seems to have outgrown it altogether.
