Layne's Voice is simply God's gift. It is the voice of our inner self, the voice of our fragile souls looking for peace and absolution. Such a solar human being as well, despite all has been said about him. Just listen to his voice and you will understand everything, without any other comments. It will never be another artist like Layne.

For me, this is a very special and beautiful memory of Layne Staley and Mark Lanegan. Two best friends sing a very nicel song together and the musicians are all very talented and full of joy. Just fantastic! It doesn't get any better! In my opinion “Mad Season Live at the Moore” is one of the best live concerts in the world. A rarity today! I wish there was a DVD of the live recording of the concert!

I met Mark in 02/03 back when Queens were touring Germany. He was polite and patient with us, we were just typical fans- part of the gig, but when I asked him about his friendship with Layne his demeanor completely thawed. He told me they were best friends and that he still got royalties from the Mad Season album, that's how good of a friend Layne was- to give him a full share of the album. I saw in his eyes he was remembering some moment or moments with Layne. He was super gracious and kind but I didn't want to intrude on that so I moved along. Thanks for the memory Mark.

Born & raised in SeaTown, I was fortunate to see everyone from Mother Love Bone, Nirvana, PearlJam, Soundgarden, MudHoney, SuperSuckers, Melvins, Screaming Trees, Candlebox, Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains in the late 80's thru mid 90's and this show, Mad Seasons, standing just left of center balcony level. watching many different band members from different bands descend down into their own abiss and prisons, weakening physically, emotionally, and vocally, but this was a very special night and show whereas a mutual appreciation between band and audience grew as the night progressed, and you could see a light on in Layne that i hadnt seen in some earlier AIC shows. It was truly a magically time to be alive, and to witness one of Rock's all time greats taken too soon from us.Enjoy and if you are suffering and dealing with addiction or mental health, talk to someone, be proactive and know there is hope and a better way to live!

@dgranite50
@dgranite50 8 жыл бұрын
lifelessdead89, yea i feel very fortunate. I agree H is a bitch. It becomes everything to you and takes everything from you eventually. I know you prolly hate hearing you are still young but take it as a compliment and an opportunity to save yourself and have a happy life! You have to want it, i mean really want it, otherwise your just kidding yourself. And it is the scariest thing you or anyone will ever have to do getting and staying clean. There are sooo many "programs" one can take and make their own, one isn't better than the other as long as it works for you and you stick to it which is key I believe once u do, its a lifelong commitment. If anyone tells you once your clean your not an addict anymore they are full of shit! I myself cannot use any drug or alcohol again! Even if that other drug didn't cause me issues it weakens my mind and my program of recovery. Once you make that choice you have to change almost every element of your life, from eliminating using friends and possibly family that uses to habits and your way of thinking about all aspects of life. Anyways sorry for my rambling I'm just passionate in trying to help others that "Want" help, i don't say that "Need" help because not all that need help want it. But i promise you this, you keep using that and you have 1 of 2 outcomes, you will end up 1.) in prison or 2.) dead! Period! Your choice brother. I'm here for ya to talk to or if you need info. Ill do what I can, That goes for anyone reading this that Wants help. And BTW yea i meant you could see a light on in Layne that hadn't been there in earklier Alice in Chains shows. A quick side-note, like i said i lived in Seattle for 40 some odd years and actually worked on Layne's condo building, just over a week after them finding him overdosed. Sad, no one came looking for weeks after he died, only because no money had been withdrawn from his bank, Take care, and be careful please!

So much blood I'm starting to drown Runs from cold to colder Time to time the sky's come down To help me lose my way Tears and lies for answers You and open veins, God knows I'm gone Girl I just want you to Come on down Lord it's a storm and I'm heading to fall These sins are mine and I've done wrong, oh babe Come on down Long Gone Day Mmmm, who ever said We wash away with the rain See you all from time to time Isn't it so strange How far away we all are now Am I the only one who remembers that summer Oh, I remember Everyday each time the place was saved The music that we made The wind has carried all of that away Long gone day Mmmm, who ever said We wash away with the rain So many tears I'm starting to drown The rain in heaven's all come down Silver spoons affix the crown The luckless ones are broken Fears and lies for answers You and open flames God knows I'm gone And I just want you to Come on down, hmmm Lord it's a storm and I'm heading to fall These sins are mine and I've done wrong I want you to, oh, I just want you to Come on down I fear again, like then, I've lost my way And shout to God to bring my sunny day
