Magic! Honda runs without spark!

In this video we remove the coils from a Honda engine and it keeps running!
Magic? Not really this 4 cilinder engine has got 8 coils in total. The other 4 coils are hard to see and are located underneath the intake.

that is normal. those type 4 cylinder honda engines also have 8 spark plugs and 8 ignition coils are also called the twinspark engines 👌

​@@Alanw74buddy got that GTA car stuck in his head. It's a 4 cylinder with 4 SPARK PLUGS AND 4 COIL PACKS. HOWEVER, there are multiple valves per cylinder.

Pretty common for these to never have the rear plugs/coils changed (as most people dont know they are there .......as a result they can flag a crankshaft position sensor code due to BEMF through the wiring harness as they share the same harness.

This is a common engine in NZ, not the cheapest thing to replace all 8 coils and 8 spark plugs on!

Disconnecting ignition coils like that is a very bad idea. It puts a huge amount of stress on the coil insulation and also stresses the coil drivers in the PCM.

The spark can go back down the loom into the ecu. Anyway doesn't this jazz have 8 plugs and coils .

I experienced that before 3x in gasoline engine and the rpm is very high i need to choke the intake manifold to shutdown the engine. I am thinking the gasoline is mixed with diesel.

This reminds me off an old Kawasaki kx500 motocross bike i spent a fortune on restoring,rebuilt the engine etc,it virtually self destructed the first time i fired it up! As soon as it started it revved 'really' high,flat out max revs!! I immediately panicked,hit the engine kill switch,pulled the spark plug lead off,yanked throttle cable off,yanked off the fuel tank it just would not stop!!The engine was just killing itself and it got to the point the smoke was horrendous i just had to get out and just leave it!! I was sick as a pig,all that work for nothing!!

The fuel is being injected at a crazy high pressure these days.. So after the engine is warm... They will self ignite...without spark .. much like a diesel.. It won't start like that... but will run

This is a twin spark engine, therefore it has eight spark plugs. Four plugs to the rear of each front plug. But nice try!😅

Build up carbon can behave like a coal and ignite itself. So no spark needed. This rare case does happen a lot on diesel engine equipped with old mechanical pumps.

Extra carbon on spark plugs who heat's up and gets red. Because of that ignite fuel without spark. One time it's happened in college time in two stroke engine so we stop fuel supply.😅

Very low octane petrol, A86 or lower, if you can find, and a bit of retarding ignition do the magic, but you have to start it first with coil on, and remove them later one by one

I thought It was bs. Until i saw what channel it was. Now i can think properly😂. If not twin spark. The compression is high enough to ignite the fuel, when in operating temperature. Or wrong fuel. Or maybe it can be something crazy with the eletrical system. Edit: one more. It could be carbon build-up getting red hot and igniting the mixture.

The vehicle is probably dieseling, which can happen if the vehicle has leaky injectors or a stuck open purge solenoid. Which is causing the vehicle to diesel because the cylinders are hot and the vehicle is still receiving fuel. Like a diesel engine.
