people may not have noticed but they're agreeing to a draw here, Magnus is forced to play Qg6+ Kg8 Qe8+ Kh7 Qg6+ and so forth, otherwise he'd lose his rook.

Hoony K. from what I'm observed, at this level I think it is understood by both players what the result of the position is, so they would both know this is "obviously" a draw. offering a hand for a draw at any time is fine I think in blitz

He didn't resign, but accepted the draw offer made at 7:40, like Mrjimibanez commented earlier. It's drawn because after Qg6+ Kh8 (or Kg8), white plays Qe8+ and after Kh7 repeats moves with Qg6+

Nepom can't retake with his queen, otherwise he loses the rook, thus he can only retreat the King but then Carlsen would check the King again in the back-rank so it's perpetual. The game was a draw.

@MrDJlikesPIE11 жыл бұрын
No magnus had an prepetual check from e8 g6 and if ever queen took on g6 or blocks on g8 then qxg8 and calls check or pawn takes the queen on g6 and calls check, then the black king must move and white will capture the rook and win the game . So Ian was forced to draw in repetition

@Pitchoun1417 I'm missing something here. How can Carlsen, at this point, force a draw? His rook is pinned. If his queen slides into the check positon, Ian swaps queens and takes the pawn. Seemingly a favorable position.
@parth-fm9mh Жыл бұрын
Nepo swaps queens but will then loose his rook for nothing
@paineisdigitais95256 жыл бұрын
How can we know it was a draw. Is the shaking hands movement used both to resign and for a draw?

can anyone please explain why carlsen did not sacrifice his bishop at 5:01 i guess it would have lead to interesting position
@afbdreds7 жыл бұрын
Indeed, nice one to check with engine. But probably he's not taking that bishop with the pawn.
@Stupid_fellow.5 жыл бұрын
If carlsen sacrificed bishop then black would bring his queen to defend. Then carlsen will have no choice but to retreat his queen. Thus, bishop sacrifice would go in vain.

Why on the earth Black does not take Nxd3 from 3:50 on for several moves, and then again at 6:05?
@voldy21898 жыл бұрын
+LittleBishop 001 Because Magnus is preparing a an attack on H2. If you take the pawn with the knight at d3 then white would move the rook over to the H file to attack the king. The knight is a key defender over g3. You can check me with this. en.lichess.org/analysis/r2qr1k1/pp4pp/5p2/4nP1Q/3p1R2/P2P3P/1P1B2P1/R5K1_b_Qq_-#1

@harvkeitel Magnus has a repetition of moves and if Nepo refuses then he loses a Rook. Plus, a lot of us watched this live online and you can check the results if you google 2010 World Blitz Championship, At this level not much needs to be said regarding the agreed result between players.

Draw. White has to check and black can't take with queen or would lose rook. If white doesn't perpetual check its over because rook goes away.
@doedicurus11 жыл бұрын
It absolutely is a draw. Qg6+ KG8, Qe8, KH7, repeated is a draw by repetition of moves or... Qg6+, QxQ, fxg6, Kxg6, Rxd5 and black loses a rook. So Black is therefore forced into repetition of moves.
