@@ohasis8331 Something funny - KZbin just showed me the new functionality to check users profile. I find that one thing all *GREAT* YT'ers have in common are a) knowledge b) craftsmanship c) PASSION d) presentation skill. (in that order). You have incredible way of telling a story that pulls the user in. And your passion and skill comes through in spades. Without sounding condescending, without sounding like you're flexing. Just quality content with quality voice over that explains what and why you're doing the things in your build. What a gem!

@@MikeFarrington I just started wood working about a year ago. I've been doing random refinishings for about two years tho. I'm starting to get more and more into designing my own. So far I've made a bench, an entertainment center, a sofa table and a computer desk. Working on a wood plant stand right now. I'm gonna check out the Japanese lantern. +Tyreman Woodworks There is no such thing as Arts and Craft style he is just producing Arts and Crafts. There are styles within Arts and Craft such as Greene and Greene. Traditional carpentry/joinery is Arts and Crafts or I suppose we could just call it crafts. If you are a small independent maker then you more than likely are Arts and Crafts. The Arts and Craft movement which started a revival is what confuses people.

Olm9 mid-late ish 30's. In his tube sock table project video he speaks about being a teenager wearing flannel with his friends listening to "Daughter" by Pearl Jam. Obvious a reference to being a teenager in the 90's. Just a rough guess. Maybe he didn't mean for it to betray a specific age. But I always pay attention to his narrations and have seen most of his videos multiple times each. Top KZbin woodworking channel. Quality craftsmanship, quality camera work, quality, narration, quality shop, quality human being. Always happy to see his family enjoying his company as a father. Great build Mike. I’d like to suggest a short pro tip vid on setting up and using a spoke shave, particularly the convex round bottom version. That proves to be intimidating in part because it’s infrequently employed, so many of us turn to templates. But you nailed the fact that one has to consider the time saved with hand tools.

Elegant simple eye catching design Mike, very impressive as always. I really like the idea of a storefront commissioning out work from local artists and builders, what a fantastic way for the average to stellar maker to get their creations out there to be seen, purchased and loved.

@@sumosidnz Ah ok, when used properly biscuits are plenty strong. I think in the KZbin circles, biscuits have been given a bad name. This is derived from people sharing incorrect options about this method of joinery.

Nice recovery from the mistake. I watched the whole thing, but it is way beyond my abilities or the tools that I own. I'll never have to build a door either, but it is fun watching someone who knows what he's doing around wood.

Look them up on eBay, you can still get them. They work great for long joints as with the sides to the legs.

@9:41 do you cut the legs to have the grain running downhill so smoothing would be easier and avoid tear-out?
@MikeFarrington
@MikeFarrington 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, if possible. I always looks at the grain and if it is possible I always cut so that the grain runs along with the taper. This will make planing very easy, as it did in this case.
