Flying buddy (& brother from another mother) despised timbers. He had a few, & couldn't/didn't like the way they flew. I took HIS 1.5m, did a few mixes and adjustments. Gave it back to him to 'just fly it ONE time' & bound it to his (my old) NX8 (after i bought my NX10 😁). He put it up & bought his new Timber Evo. (Hahahahaha! 👍🤯). I setup his evo b4 maidening it like i did his original. He flies it EVERY trip now! 🤷😁

Too many people fly it totally stock and never adjust linkages or push the programming. It's a great model, easily one of the best props Horizon has sold.

That was cool! BTW - if you want the full-scale Cub's zero turn-radius, you need differential wheel brakes. (Most full-scale planes have differential toe-brakes incorporated into the rudder-pedals.) And regarding the 10+ Gs, that's impressive! Most I've pulled in a full-scale is ~9.5 Gs in a 350 HP 2-seat Pitts special. Grunted like mad & managed to not black out, but things started to get a bit dim at max G.

Great flying! I would really love to see more about your servos specs and set up and how you put in the rudder hinges. Also really interested in your prop set up and why, and how you set up crow and how it works.

I didn't change the rudder hinges yet, but I will soon once they start showing signs of wear. I could even consider doing it on-camera if people want to see. It's about five minutes of work and lasts the entire lifetime of the model. The foam will fail long before the hinges do. I'm flying on AGFRC B11DLS servos via tinyurl.com/B11DLS - buying from that link helps support the channel at no cost to you. The prop I'm flying is a 12x6, though I may experiment with a 13x4 again - I prefer the efficiency and power that comes with a 2-bladed prop versus the 3-bladed stock setup. Thanks, Matt! Don't feel bad, I broke a spring with a hard stall landing when my hovering was interrupted by overheating. Had to cannibalize the blue Turbo's spring to get it back and flying again while I wait on parts from Horizon to ship. I need to rejigger the internals so there's more ESC airflow.

Ice seen guys cutting 1 inch square on the bottom of the cowel to get more air flow to the esc.

No full span on this - I've tried it in the past and it doesn't do much. I may, however, look into modifying the blue Timber to have full up/down travel on the flaps for FSA.

What servos do you recommend for the E-flite RV-7 1.1m and new E-flite T-28 1.3m. Are the Horizon sub micro metal gear servos a good choice?

The RV-7 is super lightweight and doesn't incur a ton of G-force unless you upgrade it to the Maule M7 motor like I did. I used leftover 9g Freewing MG servos in mine before I sold it. The AGF servos wouldn't fit in as a direct fit since they're a little bigger than the stock plastic servos.

Hi Jon, Great demonstration of the new T.Turbo! Were you able to just drop your servo replacements into the stock airframe? Are you running the stock receiver (AR637TA) which comes with the plane or has that (RX) been altered in any way? The issue that I'm concerned about is whether any of the stock servo locations contained a reversed servo in order to get the AS3X system to work. Or is this non-issue with this plane? Thanks!!!

Hej man! The wing and flap servos are a drop-in replacement. The elevator and rudder servos have to be removed by getting them to loosen up from the glue holding them in place, after which copious amounts of leftover KingBoxer glue (basically FoamTac) holds the new servos in place after roughing up the servos with some sandpaper and wiping them clean. I am using the AR637TA which I've unlocked to reprogram it. No servos are reversed - they're drop-in as far as that's concerned!

@@speedyswede5585 Yep, you absolutely can - all three, that is. AS3X, new servos, inverted flat spin. Airfoils are generally not the inhibitor for flat spins - it's lack of tail authority and nose-heavy CG that prevents a model from getting into one on command.

Ailerons, rudder, and elevator servos were all replaced with AGF units. The flaps are replaced too as of two days ago. I've never had any issue running analog with digital - not sure where that idea might have come from.

The Timber is an easier plane to land and fly in general. We'd absolutely recommend it, especially without slats. They do little except add drag at this scale and make it more difficult to recover from stalls. If you want to support us, consider buying it from bit.ly/3d098DU - it's a huge help!

I’d love to grab some of these servos for my 850mm pitts. I’ve gone through so many rudder and elevator servos. Problem is they are reversed servos. Is there a way to use these, switch servo direction in my Tx and not have as3x/ safe all messed up

You can reverse servos in your transmitter. You'll need to unlock and reprogram your receiver prior to flying so it recognizes the servo reversing.

Could you tell a difference changing the timing to 5? I haven't looked into the timing aspect of planes yet,but I do know how to program it.

It seemed a little less powerful but not by much. I could, and still did, hover it the next day without a care. Got plenty of torque rolls in too. It still overheated though - which led to some minor damage that I'll be posting about shortly.

Be sure to move ur TT evo esc as far FORWARD as u can. Rich's was getting hot & we moved it. Temps went way down. The spinner also hinders the temps. From other ppl i follow, the TT Evo, if ur using a bigger battery (bigger than a smart 4s/2700), it cant get enough air THRU the fuse to keep everything cool. Bigger 4000+ mah batteries are wider & restrict the airflow.🤷🤪
