I prefer The RWS Versions of all the stories, but the TV differences were never changed too much to the point of insult if you ask me.

True. Most of the time when it came to these adaptations, most of the changes we've seen so far, are fairly minor and not ones that many tend to think about, with a few noticable exceptions. (Bluebells of England/Rusty To the Rescue)

This is my second favorite book mostly because it's BoCo's story and in a way this shows the engines accepting him even though he's a diesel. I wish Buzz, Buzz was adapted for Season 2 as it would show how they haven't gotten over the incident with Diesel and when they meet BoCo they think he'll be just the same but then learn he's different.

I think the main reason they didn’t do it is because of the animation for the bees and James initial sting as at this point they were still on a low budget which is why they couldn’t adapt stories like Gordon goes foreign and Percy promise

James: What's that, Duck? Are you scared of bees? They're only insects, after all, so don't let that buzz-box diesel engine tell you any different. Duck: His name's BoCo and he didn't. We were just- James: I wouldn't care if hundreds were swarming around. I'd just blow smoke at them and make them buzz off! Duck: Buzz, buzz, buzz.

The adaption of Buzz Buzz still mentions the events of The Diseasel when Boco talks to Duck

In the episode _Wrong Road,_ Gordon's line "letting branch line diesels pull main line trains" makes no sense because _Buzz Buzz_ wasn't adapted until S3 - and even then it was more about James with no mention of BoCo taking over the Express. Also in _Wrong Road,_ the original story describes Gordon's dislike for diesels in greater detail - until he sees BoCo and pleads with him to save him from the twins. One minor difference in _The Dieseasel:_ the book describes Bill and Ben's reaction to their drivers wanting to rescue their trucks as "aghast"; in the episode, it says they were "horrified".

I think they could have made a story about the Scottish twins and boco cuz dieselization was what caused the dilemma of the pair almost being killed. I mean that sorta drama isn’t really a thing cuz the picture books were targeted towards young kids but still.

I like Buzz Buzz but it should’ve been in Series 2 like the other three books. The other thing is James didn’t trust diesels due to when Diesel first came to the railway and bullied Duck. Duck was a bit suspicious of BoCo in the railway series while Duck and BoCo just got on like old friends in the tv show. I think they could’ve done Buzz Buzz for a different book series or do 5 stories where the fifth one is based on Duck and the three big engines don’t like diesels and get suspicious of BoCo.

Haven't read the book in ages, but I like it as much as the episodes. ...And I only noticed in recent years...that Edward's bodywork is extremely damaged in the book.

There's also another thing I've noticed about the book: after Main Line Engines, Edward, having been taken to the Works at the end of Edward's Exploit, does not appear again for the remainder of Wilbert Awdry's tenure as author of the Railway Series. It may be that Edward's Exploit is a tough act to follow indeed.

I thought they were all good stories even though the weakest was probably Edward's Exploit. Would've been better to see more damage to Edward as well as hear Donald and Douglas speak. Also Duck should've told Gordon, Henry and James to either be quiet or stop talking instead of shut up because said dialogue was paraphrased in later episodes like Steamroller.

Out of curiosity, are you using VHS rips of episodes as well as restored DVD rips?

Yes, that's one way to tell if this is a reupload from my other channel or a brand new video. For the first several of these book to TV comparisons I used my old VHS tapes for clips. It was pointed out to me that using the restored episodes would look much better and so that's when I switched. However to pad out these reuploads I've added more clips (combined with the RWS audio book narration) using the restored footage.
