Hi Dr Russ, About a year ago I bought my first air rifle to try and take care of a pigeon problem in my race horse barns here in the bluegrass of central Kentucky(Lexington). I knew absolutely nothing about airguns so I turned to you tube to figure out how to zero the cheap scope that came with my air rifle. About the same time I decided to get sober after 8 long years of active addiction. I’m nearing my one year of sobriety and I now own 4 air rifles. Your videos have helped me tremendously. Not just for your sharing your airgun knowledge but also your little “life” lessons and advice that you often include in your videos. For that and of course for your service I want to thank you. You’ve mentioned taking your show on the road and I want to invite you and Paula to stop here in Lexington, KY should you ever pass nearby. I have spent the last year building a 100 yard range complete with wind chimes(another idea I got from one of your videos). I hope you keep the great videos coming… Sincerely, Kellyn

Hi Dr Russ I guess i am most surprised or didn't see any high quality springer's I thought something like a Air Arms tx 200 or a Weihrauch 97 would be something you would enjoy. Both amazing guns and fun to fiddle with different springs and lubes. Any way thank you for taking the time to make these videos for us.

Great video Dr Russ like always, I have several PCP’s like I have mentioned, a lot of high end air guns and some average, but I work on all of them myself. I don’t send none of them end for the plain simple reason is I don’t want to be waiting for my gun to get back to me sometimes month, 2 months long or sometimes longer yet, I’m a impatient person so I fix them myself, Again great video!!!!!!

Dr Russ, I recently purchased a Gamo Magnum Swarm 10x Gen3i in 177 and like it a lot so far, mainly for the convenience of the magazine. I use it for hunting varmints in my barn (rats, possums, coons - occasionally, and skunks - even more occasionally, thankfully). This is pretty short range, typically 15-25 yards due to where most come into the barn to steal feed. I've previously been using a .25 Hatsan Sniper break barrel single shot, but when it's really cold, it's a challenge to reload. But I'm having trouble with the Gamo magazine... it doesn't always load even though I've got ammo and I get a dry-fire. I'll break the barrel & a pellet will fall to the ground. I purchased it only a couple of weeks ago and have shot around 100 rounds. The problem seems worse with a pointed hunting pellet (H&N Hornet), so I'll limit that, but I'm concerned about the problem and the impact of dry-firing it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is this a common problem? Thanks for your insights. - LR
@russjones6497
@russjones6497 Жыл бұрын
Larry Roberts ... it is good to hear from you ... before you dismantle the entire Swarm Magazine feature (some owners have) and be in the same condition you are with your Hatsan 25.... let me suggest that you push your pellets into the magazine with a pencil or pen so that the black rubber band slips into the waist line of the pellet. this should hold your pellets in position until the gun fires. If that doesn't work ... then I would cut the tips of a pair of gloves so that you have hand warmth ... but also the ability of your finger tips to load the 25 caliber correctly. I am concerned that a 177 cal pellet will only wound your larger critters like the possum and coons. You probably should keep the 25 cal handy for those critters so that you humanely harvest them... Please stay in touch ... Dr. Russ

@russjones6497
@russjones6497 Жыл бұрын
Jerry Purnell ... it is good to hear from you ... and I shoot both copper BB's and 177 lead pellets down the same barrels. Pellets are made of lead and BB's are made from copper or steel. Barrels and their rifling are made of steel. I am not an expert in metallurgy ... but I find nothing in the air gun manuals that seem to be concerned about the type of BB's used ... so I am going to guess that steel BB's are made from the cheapest and softest of steels. The cheaper the air gun ... the cheaper and softer the steel barrels are. So while I wouldn't be concerned about shooting BB's and Pellets out the same barrel... you might want to stay on the safe side and shoot copper BB's and lead pellets ... both are softer than the cheapest steel. Keep us in your air gun info and experience loop. Dr. Russ

Dr. Russ, I hear filling up airguns with a small compressor can introduce moisture in to the cylinder/air tank. However not much info on what could happen and how to remove it. Could you maybe do a video on this?
@russjones6497
@russjones6497 Жыл бұрын
Herbert Cortes ... it is good to hear from you ... the key to not getting moisture in the cylinder/air tank is really based on whether there is a moisture filter on the compressor ... regardless of its size..... small or large. Often the small compressors have what looks like a long brass nut on the air cable ... just before it goes onto the air gun.... and that long brass nut is actually a housing for a long moisture filter ... which resembles the filter on a cigarette ... but longer. Hopefully these filters are doing their job... Dr. Russ

@@biketothefuture829 It is good to hear from you biketothefuture .... and the answer to your question is ..."absolutely" .... I use mine to refill the compressed air chamber on my air gun ... but many hook it up ... and leave it hooked up ...while they spend several hours at the gun range zero-ing in their air guns. Keep in mind that a regulator on any air gun will keep the shooting air pressure exactly the same ... shot after shot ... and that makes a regulator more helpful than just hooking up a scuba tank to your gun ... since this represents a lot of shots ... but it also represents shots that would continue to decrease in fps as the overall air pressure decreases... I just purchased a Gamo Gen 3i air rifle and the pellets will not fire. This is Dr hook. Please advise.
@russjones6497
@russjones6497 Жыл бұрын
Dr. Hook ... sorry to hear. You havent told me why those pellets will not fire. Possibly lodged in the barrel, or something else is lodged in the barrel. If so, use a rifle cleaning rod and insert it and tap it from the front of the barrel... being careful that the safety is on. Possibly no air is holding in the Gamo after cocking it, and if that is the case, you need to return it to Gamo before the warranty runs out. You might drop the stock off with 2 screws, and examine the trigger linkage for obstructions. Lastly, the safety might be on, which is the lever just in front of the trigger. Please keep us in your air gun info loop in solving this problem... Dr Russ

Dr. Russ, een vraagje vanuit Belgie: kan U me raad geven hoe ik een huma regulator op maximun power kan inbouwen in mijn pcp pistool diana bandit .177. Op voorbaat dank. Gtjs.
@russjones6497
@russjones6497 2 ай бұрын
It is good to hear from you user from Belgium. Regulators are basically designed to provide a range of consistent air power, that tightens groups up for accuracy. Their maximum setting for power is actually lower than what the air gun can be tuned to shoot. Consider setting the maximum power by adjusting the long pin and spring that are typically adjustable by a screw at the rear of the gun. I don't have a Diana Bandit 177 ... so I cannot help you further.
