To me, living simple and free doesn't mean poor or unable to meet your needs. It means quite the opposite because once you truly espouse the idea of living simple (simplifying your life), it enables you to live free (free of debt and financial stress). It's about being in a position where you can actually start to build real wealth that nobody can take away from you and being able to take care of your family's needs. The need to have or generate income will always be there while we live in this world. It's all about restructuring our lives to get rid if unnecessary things and being smart about how we generate income and preserve it to grow wealth.

Living debt free is hugely freeing the less financial stress in life the better especially as we get older, don’t change a thing unless you choose to. 🌸🙂

"Live Simple, Live Free" doesn't mean that you have to sit in your chair and do nothing for the rest of your life, even though you could if that's what you wanted. It means you are able to choose what you do with your time. It means you don't *have* to work, but you can *choose* to work with your son on a lucrative project. I think people are jealous of your freedom. :)

I think it’s great that you have taken the time to address some peoples questions, even though they are rude and should mind their own business 😉 Our story is very similar to yours. We lost everything in 2001 because we had unwisely leveraged our future earnings and past investments on building our dream house. The stress of losing my husbands job, losing our 7 year “new” house, bankruptcy and having 4 children to feed and house was incredible! What hard lessons we had to learn! Fast forward to 2020 when our business was closed due to Covid lockdowns. A large savings set aside for retirement, our last mortgage payment and plenty of Thrive 🤗 in case of emergencies! No, we could not sell a closed business, but the FREEDOM of being debt free and having savings, was enormous! We don’t have a lot, but we have ENOUGH! God is good!

Our home is paid for but taxes and insurance is drowning us. We live in a large home that we raised out kids and in-laws in. It’s just me and my husband now and we no longer need this much room. For me living simple means living an uncomplicated life free of unnecessary possessions and debt. I'm somewhat of a minimalist but am still very comfortable. I just don't collect unnecessary stuff or have excess. I just enjoy the simple things with occasional nice trips which I pay for in cash. Your channel has been a tremendous help to me in maintaining a simple lifestyle and philosophy.

I love your philosophy. I live it. I'm debt free for about the last 5 years. It's definitely freeing. I also like though, that you do treat yourselves (albeit sensibly) to things that bring you joy, like the motor cycle or a trip away...whatever it is. I think that's important too. There's a huge difference between being 'tight' and being frugal. Tightness I can't abide. It's nice to be generous if you can. But there are times when we have to be frugal. The ups and downs of life. It's so cool that you live so close to family, that's worth everything and more. Loving the reno vids.

Most of us “get it.” Most who follow you, my guess, live like you guys. We relate to the concept. Never, in 39 years, have we paid interest on our charge cards. (We did make car payments. Never were we able to save up and buy a car outright…but, we never missed a payment and always paid them off early.) We’ve never missed a household bill. We have puh-lenty….but are definitely not indulged. I think that’s the simple part. Simple is different to me than to the next gal/guy. That’s not a hard concept to grasp. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But, free…..that’s clearly a whole different level! That’s where peace lives. ❤️ Keep on keeping on. 😉

People by now should trust your integrity, your honesty. After all these years, if people still have doubts about your character, that's just so sad. I joined this channel when Bill was still driving the 18-wheeler to keep the finances so they could live their philosophy in the little trailer house. If Elizabeth bought a frig magnet, one had to go so the status quo was remained. Bill had a self-imposed rule of getting rid of a mug when he bought a new one for his collection. They have always lived this philosophy and belief system since the crash of 2008. Yes, they have moved to the house they have now, which Barry found for them, and they paid it off in such a short time...and had Bill's dad live with them as he could no longer live independently. Pops passed on (God rest his soul). That's why they bought the house; they could take care of Pops in their home. Sure, Thrive had added to their income, because they work hard and it fits with their "no debt, no buy just for the sake of it" philosophy. They have been good stewards and their income has increased. They have worked for everything. So trust them and what they do. They deserve our trust. God bless all the Kellers. :-)

I am living on SS and still have a hard time making it. I have internet and since it cost so much I am going to turn it off the end of this month. I have already called the library here in town and they said I could bring my laptop up there and use their internet to download my videos to youtube. I am making quilts to sell to help me. We built a new house in 2016. With the equity in his other, paid off house, and savings were were able to build our dream house. We have a moderate mortgage that is about 1/3 the value of our house. We pay extra on the mortgage every month. Our payment with extra is $600 a month.. That is our only debt. We feel very lucky to be in this beautiful place for a payment that we could never afford if we were paying rent. Rents around here are nearly $1000.00 a month for a dumpy place. And we have savings!

Too many people are told go to college and you will make good money, I've helped many of them to see the truth, as to why as 18 year old's they have $30,000. of debt and no job. The $4. spent daily on junk food is $1460. a year. I've been homeless, and stood half an hour trying to decide if I should spend .50 on a toy for my son, when he was a baby. I write this to let others know if you follow the advice of this couple you can be financially successful. I have 3 property's paid in full and money in the bank and no debt. Growing up poor, I never thought it was possible. l Thank You for sharing.

We are just like you! We too are debt free. We do not have a large income but it is free from the encumbrance of debt. We buy 2nd hand vehicles and bought a 2nd hand travel trailer and a 2nd hand pontoon boat, all of which were paid with cash. By living in a small house (approx 800 square feet) buying used vehicles trailer and boat, we are able to have and enjoy a great life. Like you we could have bought new and gone in debt, but then we would have been a slave to monthly payments. You lost a lot but have recovered. I see your life as a testimony of God's blessing of abundance due to your commitment and obedience to living debt free. Your testimony of sacrifice and obedience has been blessed by God. You also share with others the importance of knowing Jesus, becoming and staying debt free, and enjoying the life God has blessed you with! Thank You!

Thank you! This video was not an attempt to "justify" ourselves or our finances. And we were not offended by the comments. This was a teaching moment to further explain how the debt-free lifestyle works, using our own finances as an example. It's part of our ongoing effort to TEACH debt-free living!

It’s hard to understand how people can watch your channel, see all the hardships you have overcome with tremendous skill and resourcefulness and positivity, and assume you don’t know what you’re doing. I am not a regular viewer but check in from time to time and I am in awe of all you have achieved. Haters gonna hate but they don’t matter.

Great video! I think a lot of people don't understand that credit cards and car loans drain your money -- interest and fees really add up. Living within your means, with cash, does lower your stress level. I really like Dave Ramsey's books and advice. It has made a big difference in our family's finances. Many blessings!

God bless you both! Live simple, live free is a fantastic motto for life. It's how I see our life here over the pond. We downsized our home to be mortgage free, we exchanged our new jeep for an old jeep so my husband could maintain it. We invest the money we have worked hard for in a multitude of ways to be as free from the reliance on the market as is practical for us personally, I recently purchased a grain mill, so instead of buying flour I could source grain at the best prices, store it long term... I never buy bread from the store now. We're unlikely to ever be self sufficient but already we have more freedom than ever before in our lives. We don't rely on having to run to the supermarket every week, we grow a lot, we cook everything from scratch, make wine and beer, built a pizza oven, I learnt to cook the types of cuisine we'd once had to go out for or order in. It's liberating and creates a wonderful sense of freedom and self reliance. Here's the thing though, my concept of living simply and of freedom wouldn't be everyone's idea of the same and is quite different from how you dear people live. It began like yours however with having zero debt and a concept of learning to do as much for ourselves as we could instead of paying someone else to do it for us. Live your kind of simple with pride and relish your version of freedom 😍

Your topic is a good one. Many people have a misunderstanding of minimalism and simple living. If minimalism works for you, fine, but the main thing, as you have covered, is that you don't have the obligation of debt. My father always told me not to risk, or gamble, with money you can't afford to lose. I think you're handling things the right way. Your title still stands correct.

Your philosophy absolutely makes sense...and it makes perfect sense...I'm in your age group so I understand..I also was raised with simple things ..things we actually needed and we utilized everything we had...and I am so thankful and grateful and what I do have not what I dont have !! These new generations are so in debt up to their eyeballs ..it's sad...a very materialistic culture we live in...I teach my grandchildren the value of a dollar although it's not what it used to be...godbless you both..been watching you since you were in your small trailer....be healthy..be happy...❤️😊🌻

I understand and agree with your philosophy of live simple live free. I sincerely wish for others sake they could understand. I was stricken with chronic illness at age 48, No longer able to work and unprepared for what happened to me and my two sons that I have sole custody of and raised alone. Luckily I was not in debt at the time and was able to sell possessions and we survived. I now lease a small 2 bedroom ranch house, Rent is not expensive because it's rural and I don't have to struggle to pay taxes and insurance or maintenance so that works for me. I still have no debt only monthly living expenses and with living on disability I consider myself living simple and living free. My car is a 2000 model and I buy used furniture and lawn mowers etc. People need to realize, Its best to have only what we need and not what we want. I'm thankful for what little I have and am humble. God bless you both 🙏. We never know what is going to happen so be prepared.

I really believe that you are entitled to keep the name. Many of us don't handle our money wisely. We go beyond our means, and stress over how we will pay bills. Also people can't just sit they need to create. I have also noticed your charity and help of others due to the fact that you handle your money wisely. Your doing this also teaches people how to live debt free. God bless you. Greece.

We barely squeaked by in 2008 and by God's grace we were able to keep our house. We recently sold our home and bought a small house debt free. It was another miracle as our area has a shortage of homes for sale. It's an amazing feeling not paying on a mortgage. These 30 year mortgages need to go.
