The tire rims... Masking them with a liquid was probably not needed. A trick I've never seen anyone use in a restoration video is to mount the wheel on a straight axle or wire rod that won't flex, and then chuck it on an electric screwdriver or rotary tool that's either mounted in a stand or table vise. The trick is to get the wheel spinning without any wobble. Then you can use a paint brush with just a little paint on it to touch the part you want to paint. The wheel is spinning under the paint brush, so as long as you hold your hand steady, you get clean lines. The only thing I'd be concerned about is whether a rotary tool would spin it too fast and the paint would spread out from centrifugal force, but if you use just a little more paint than you would if you were dry-brushing, it shouldn't. Since an electric screwdriver is geared to much slower RPMs, one might work better. But experimenting with junk wheels will give the answer to that question.

It’s from the series called “Outlaws” which is all based on the art of Max Grundy. His art is amazing, but I love what you did with the car.

Car turned out really nice. Love the green, it beats the hell out of the original. Regarding the top...you would not have felt as anxious if you had used a larger brush. That way, you could have covered more area in less time, and before the paint was drying on you. The one you were using was really more suitable for detail work.

One of my favorite cars. I wondered as I watched this if it is possible to electroplate aluminum onto diecast and then anodize...the green comes off almost looking like anodizing on some parts. NICE! (Not hating on the roof. I might have suggested white for it, if you were doing it during the spray. It would set off with the whitewalls well)

@sped69545 жыл бұрын
I had already turned my phone back to portrait mode, disconnected it from Smart View with the TV and was on my way to letting you know that you forgot to black the top when you mentioned it. Cool ride and very nicely done. When I see a ratrod, I like to see some engine parts accented the same color as the body. Same with the wheels; same color as the car with a set of moons. I'm wondering how many of the younger crowd got the cheap hooker reference before you gave it to them by mentioning headers... Are they even still around? I haven't played around with things like that in over 20 years, so it wouldn't surprise me if some people didn't get it.
