Your video is based on lies all fabricated simply bcos the ijaws are originally from the Yoruba lineage, not from the East just as you've said it.... And Ironsi's government wasn't fair. After the igbo coup brought him into power by assassinating both the Northern & the western leaders, Ironsi didn't only continue from where they stopped. Infact he went after every western leaders of the Yoruba region and left out both the Easterners and the Northerners elites. Both Ironsi and the igbo tribalistic rule destabilize the whole nation, so don't come on here and start preaching gibberish lies by trying to change the course of history all bcos you are an igbo man.

@@peteralex2813Since Ironsi and his Ibo tribalistic rule destabilized Nigeria in just six months in the office as you stated, and Ironsi and his Ibo government were removed by force on July 29th, 1966. Have Ironsi predecessors ever make things right since that 58yrs today? Remember that Ironsi and his Ibo government was in the office for only six months in 1966. So, you believe that Ironsi and his Ibo government for 6months in the office is what kept Nigeria where they are today. Mmmmmmm. Something is wrong somewhere.

Most intetresting thing about Ironsi is that he has been a top military officer as G.O.C in Nigerian army and later became the head of state for 6months. According to General Ike Nwachukwu Aguiyi Ironsi is owing approximately E18,000 British pounds being the loans that he borrowed from different people and banks to put food in his family table. He has no oil block; he has no commercial building or estate in any city in Nigeria. He has no house in his village before he died. Ironsi has no empty land in any city in Nigeria still he was once Nigerian head of state.

Because most are corrupt & honesty is seen as fools exuberance thus the reason why most will defend corrupt leaders with words such as " the man has paid his dues, so let him enjoy". Enjoy what? The fish problem that confronted Ironsi was a military problem; what is the appropriate military punishment to be meted on the junior officers who executed two Brigadiers and four Colonels? Ironsi and his advisers shied away from addressing this pressing problem and continued to seek for political solutions to a military problem. How did Ironsi hope to restore discipline in the army without taking a ruthless and decisive action on the mutinous bunch of January 1966?

In May 1966, General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, Nigeria’s first military head of state promulgated the infamous Decree No. 34 of 1966, the “unification decree.” The decree effectively did away with the federal system of government practised by Nigeria since its independence from British colonial rule in 1960. In its place, the general instituted a unitary system of government as a way of discouraging “tribal loyalties and activities which promote tribal consciousness and sectional interests and which must give way to the urgent task of national reconstruction.” The decree suspended aspects of the Nigerian constitution and, with it, the military government arrogated to itself wide discretionary powers. Unknown to the general, the effects of this decree would reverberate well into Nigeria’s sixtieth year as an independent nation. . *It's a tragedy to the fate of this nation that the Igbo person has been in denial about the problem they created for this country since 1966. Instead, they play the victim. I no longer debate Nigerians on this issue. It has served me no good* ..
@HispleMedia

You are very correct and I appreciate your feedback 💗. But as convinient as it sounds, Gowon had the chance to make a change immediately but made the situation worse. At least, Ironsi left provinces that were the same size as the regions and appointed governors. But with Decree 14, Gowon effectively destroyed the regions/provinces and created states. So, while am not defending ironsi or Igbos, it is high time we begin to think of ways to correct our collective mistakes. The same way we keep blaming Lord Lugard more than 100 years after amalgamation for failing on our own part. We had the chance to correct any mistakes that Lugard or ironsi or Gowon made. But continue to wallow in our blame game... Even most recently, Jonathan convened a constitutional conference but failed to implement it before he left, why? I would say selfish interest. He had the chance to effect the change before 2015 election. The apc that campaigned on the basis of restructuring have so far failed (9 years after taking power at the center). In my view, our problem is not how it started but our inability to learn from it and forge a strong healthy position forward. We all know what is good for the country when we are outside the power circle. But when we get in, our personal interest overrides that of the country. The reason we doing this is inform the new generation of leaders so that maybe we could have among them who will choose national interest over sectional or personal interests. On the last part of your comment, assuming the Igbo man who has not been in power since then accept or take responsibility, what then happens? Maybe, just maybe, if an Igbo man assumed power since then, he may have corrected what he did (I emphasize maybe again. I'm not talking about PO, don't bring that in pls). So we need to start blaming those who have been in control since after ironsi but have failed to make the necessary change. Thank you very much for watching ♥️♥️💗💗

Honestly, I believe he was a good man. But extremely naive and politically a novice. General Ironsi was slow in dealing with the politico-military objectives of the coup d'etat that brought him to power. Had he embraced the coup plotters and owned up to the coup, maybe he could have been saved. I say this because of the initial mass appeal of the January 1966 coup, even in the north. This he didn't do because he was never part of the coup that threw him up as Head of State! He rather chose appeasement to pacify the North and was doomed. Politics of northern appeasement has never worked for the appeaser. President Jonathan readily comes to mind. In an alternate universe, Ironsi completed the objectives of the January 1966 coup and he rid Nigeria of corrupt politicians and cemented his rule as well as secured his life.

A "blunder" that has been maintained and sustained till today. Recent rumors of a return to regionalism is now being resisted by a section of the country. Do we really still call it a "blunder"? If yes, then all of us are a big disappointment for allowing it to fester till now. Thanks for watching 😍😍

Igbo man you have deliberately left out the most IMPORTANT achievement of Aguyi Ironsi. Let me tell people what you omitted. Aguyi Ironsi led the bloodiest coup in African History! He was so brutal that people are disgusted to talk about what he did to especially the Northern politicians and civilians. He hid his boys( those that carried out the heinous murders) and refused to let them be tried. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Aguyi Ironsi and Ojukwu were the most disgraceful people to have ever existed. Those people that really want to find out more about what I said can always Google it. But make sure the source is not an igbo source. They are trying to confuse young Nigerians by trying to change History. As if History can be changed. I'm waiting for any disgruntled person to try to reply me and I promise you I have a lot to say about everything you people are doing not only in Nigeria but also around the world.

My platform is not a place to display hate... History can not be changed. I have covered the coup extensively if you would like to watch, pls check the channel. There is no history written anywhere in the world that categorically state that ironsi was part of the coup. However, many hv inferred that he refused to prosecute them because they were his brothers. Even that is covered extensively in this video. So please, do not come here and show hate. If that is your intention pls go to other social media platforms. Thank you

Mistake that led to his death ? Muritala Mohammed, Theophilus Danjuma, Buhari and other Northern military conducted a Bloody Coup and assassinated their GOC and Head of state in Major gen. Aguiyi Ironsi. That's what you should have reported which is the facts. Not this rubbish title you have. Otherwise you would also say that Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Bello and co made a mistake that led to their death.
@HispleMedia
@HispleMedia 3 ай бұрын
First, this is not rubbish. Second, they (Tafawa balewa and Bello) made a mistake too because they led a very corrupt system that incited the young officers in the first place. Thirdly, Following the manner in which people were executed, an Igbo man would have fought back too if the reverse was the case. We at Hisple Media are not afraid to say the truth no matter how uncomfortable it is. Thank you for watching 😍

@@HispleMediaD coupists were very unconscionable and had zero excuse for traumatizing a nation. They were too rash. Six years was too short in d life of a newborn nation to expect a flawless performance. I recently watched Italian MPs come to blows in their parliament. And this is advanced democracy. Given time the practice of democracy and self governance would have steadily matured and we might have reached an equilibrium by now, like India.
