I absolutely love my Elite. Takes some time to find your mix between sweet spot and comfort, but once you've done it, it plays soooo well and clear, however couldn't help but notice you said you can't use the trackpads like joysticks when in fact you can. That's exactly how you use them. I come from an avid controller background and this experience with trackpads is very comparable to joysticks if you aren't opposed to just learning and getting used to something that might feel "different" at first. It's very sensitive and useful, although I'd prefer the Valve Knuckle controllers just for the features.
@holycrapsnacks79154 жыл бұрын
thats what some people dont get. they get their headset and then complain about it being uncomfortable on the first literal hour. OBVI its not going to be the most comfortable at first, you need to get used to it LMAO
@rkgrei4 жыл бұрын
I know I'm like 3 months late, but I've had my cosmos elite for 2 months and it reminds me a lot of ice skating. You buy your skates and they are super uncomfortable but the more you use them the more you "break" them in and the more comfortable they became. Thats how my experience was with the cosmos elite, uncomfortable at first but the more I used it the more I found the perfect spot for it being comfortable and looking good
@cloakey10363 жыл бұрын
The thing with my trackpads is sometimes they retain the input I gave them after I let go, is there a setting which allows me to turn down the sensitivity on the Trackpads? I've only used it for about a week.

I've had the Elite for a fortnight now and overall I'd say it's been great. Once setup it's been a fantastic experience. Only two issue's though, for one, HTC don't tell you that the camera's on the faceplate don't do anything with the Elite. They do not have any pass-through, so you must flip up the headset to see outside. The other is that motion compensation with the included controllers doesn't seem to be supported, which is irritating as the slightest tremor in your hands is very apparent with this bit of kit. I really hope that HTC fix these issue's in future software updates, which would put the icing on the cake and help justify the hefty price tag over the Cosmos just a bit. Otherwise I agree with some of the other commentators here, the removal of the lens distance adjustment can make it difficult to get that sweet-spot, especially if you can't get your IPD right on the money. The headphone booms are flimsy and prone to flicking themselves away from your head at times and the cables for them seem extremely delicate, which is an odd design choice considering you end up adjusting them every time you put the HMD on. Would it have killed HTC to have fitted some proper Dolby 7.1 surround speakers instead of stereo headphones? The display unit itself does seem to get rather warm, I think it could have used an internal fan in there to help those screens keep reasonably cool over extended use. It's a very good bit of kit, but it seems a little unfinished in both the hardware and software departments, so it's a good choice if you can't wait two months on a list for a Valve Index to become available again.

Yeah bit of an update, it seems that Vive have sorted out the software through their beta Vive console, so the faceplate cameras work alright now. As for these 'fortnite' jokes, I have no clue what these guys are on about, don't really care either 🥱

Have had my cosmos elite for over two months now, and it's awesome. I got the full setup for around 1000 NZD which is cheap for my country. Would've gotten a Valve Index but it's not available in my country and the second hand ones are around 2000 NZD so I didn't really bother. Haven't had any issues so far and I am very satisfied.
@mazdamaniac46432 жыл бұрын
@@PolarSends Nice one mate. I've ended up wrapping some silicone cable sleeve over all of those little headphone wires for piece of mind protection, recommended mod. Valve Index controllers are a worthy upgrade if you can get them, they work great and they're noticeably more precise than the Vive wands. Top tip with any of these controllers is to try to double the length of the wrist straps, far more comfortable and you quickly don't notice them anymore when playing, they're a bit short as standard for the Vive wands.

The panel used in the HTC Vive Cosomos Elite is a AMOLED panel, not LCD
@TheZorch4 жыл бұрын
You just helped me make my buying decision. I'm looking to upgrade from a Samsung Odyssey WMR headset and I don't want LCDs. In Elite Dangerous the light bleed-through of LCD would look awful, but AMOLED gives those stunning deep blacks. Locating the original Vive new in box has been really hard, so this is the next best thing I guess.

VR gaming is bound to pick up so Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are going to have some competition for gamers with this new experience. It is a good thing I think because it will push people to want to make VR and AR type games and not just traditional games were you just play on your TV with a regular game console. Also it could revolutionize how we use online and social media networks in the coming years in terms of user interaction and yes even how we use apps from our phone.

You should really check out the HP Reverb. I've owned HTC, Samsung, and Oculus sets... and the Reverb is one of, if not, the best headsets for visual immersion. 2160x2160 PER EYE. The sweet spot is ever so slightly smaller than the HTC, but that doesn't impact my gameplay. It's also light and comfortable like the original Oculus Rift.

My experience with the Cosmos Elite, has been worse than with the first HTC VIVE, the strap does not hold the head well,if I look down, the headset moves (I had the strap of the first HTC VIVE and was perfect), the headphones do not click near the ears,they easily detach from the ears (the old one was perfect too), and most importantly, you are now forced to use the HTC console and Steam VR together, which lowers the performance of the pc (mostly on Steam VR Home). None of this happened to me with the first HTC VIVE. The money it costs is not worth it for the little graphic improvement.
