Top guy this man, honesty is priceless! I think our contractors need to give there work force a recap on there skills and maybe even the site managers too.

I’ve work on sites for the last 7 years… the problem with all sites these days is not the trades it’s the site managers and their bosses! Even if you tell site managers you have not got enough time to do a job right they will tell you to do it anyway! All they want is the plot handed over! I’ve heard massive rows where trades don’t want to do a job because it won’t be right and I’ve even seen site managers do the job themselves to get it done quick! They are under to much pressure to get plots handed over in quick time! It’s shocking what I’ve seen but if we complain they’ll get rid of our crew and bring one in that’ll do what they want and being self employed as you can imagine I can’t afford to not be working

Was looking at a new build, but pretty suspicious the house builder has a clause in the contract preventing us hiring a professional snagger until after contracts are all signed and we're stuck there...
@ge27193 жыл бұрын
no one should ever sign a contract like that. if no one signed them then they'd have to stop using them. I'd never pay for something until i have a guarantee of the build quality.

What would the builder need to do with the rip in the roof felt? I have that in my new build and can see the tiles🤨
@oliverbull16223 жыл бұрын
They’d have to strip the tiles off the roof until they unveil the strip of felt that’s ripped. Then put replace the damaged felt and put the tiles back on. Scaffolding would have to be erected so prepare for that. If the rip is at the top then not many tiles would need to come off. Hope that helps. Don’t forget about it tho, if you haven’t already make sure you report it if your within you snag time

They'd have to do a controlled demolition on the property, potentially c4 plastic explosives. It's the only way......THE ONLY WAY!!!!

Does this mean that weep hole vents have to be fitted to every house that was built before they was introduced??
@polluxtroy693 жыл бұрын
These videos are on new builds. So the weep holes will be in the building plans as the house will want to reduce moisture, which can cause mould and damp. I doubt that you'll find them exactly like the ones in the videos in older houses (my cottage doesn't. But it doesn't have a cavity either as it's built out of 12" thick sand stone). But you'll see grid looking vents near the ground that are there for the same purpose.

These videos are interesting how poor some of these new builds can be. What pains me is that in the pursuit of chucking these homes up at speed none of the trades have any pride in their work. Or the pressures of putting these houses up so quick gives these results. There are plenty of good trades people out there. I take it they just don't do this type of work and leave it to the house bashers.

Once again contract goes to the cheapest bidder who hires cheap labour or apprenticies let them do all the work and the site manager is a pen pusher who learnt it from a book

The developers must love you? lol
@johnnyboy39493 жыл бұрын
They don’t care. Once they have got the money of whoever is buying it then it isn’t their problem. House os signed off, money in bank, keys given to new owner, developers never to be seen again. Nothing you can do. Will the government step in? No. As long as they continue to throw up expensive housing, no.

Fake weep vents are down different size bricks and sometimes it's down to lazyness. Each brick in the uk should be 215mm by 102.5mm by 65mm but some bricks come in different sizes 218-220mm so imagine trying to fit a weep vent when all the perbs on the dpc level are skin tight. So you can ether cut bricks or cut the weep vent, your choice.
@chriswhitehead87463 жыл бұрын
Just do it right the 1st time bin bricky for near 25years never done that retrofitting a weep vent to make look like it works it there for a reason and 10mm gaps is what skin tight 😳

@ge27193 жыл бұрын
a cut brick is still a brick, a cut weep vent pushed into mortar is a useless bit of plastic. the problem is the k***head who puts in the fake vents isnt the guy who has to fix their mistake. if every idiot who fitted a fake vent because they forgot had to be the one to go back, rip out the bricks, cut them down, put the proper vent in, and then put the bricks back, AND do a decent job of it...and likely not being paid, since its their f-up. i'm sure they would soon realise the benefit of doing it right the first time
@MrCharlan13 жыл бұрын
If the weep vent doesn’t fit then make it fit by moving the bricks and squeezing your peeps elsewhere, I’d say a couple mil of a brick is better than a fake weep vent
