This was a huge game for Jermaine Lewis, who was still grieving over the loss of his stillborn son. Two punt returns for a TD in a single game is rare, and that young man put the team on his back for a big win.

Møtíf passing yards yes, time of possession no because time of possession indicates you ran the football well. Having a good running game leads to a win far more often than having a good pass game does. Passing yards can be easily accumulated in garbage time. Rush yards and time of possession are generally much harder to come by

For those that don't know, those two punt return TDs gave me chills. The return man, Jermaine Lewis, lost his newborn son Geronimo a week or two before this game, and he followed it up with that performance. He pointed up to his son on both plays. He won us that game. @ajbahus5 жыл бұрын
13:55 is a beautiful play and really fun to watch on 0.25 speed. Jermaine is able to go nearly 90 yards untouched. This doesn't happen by accident. Nearly all 11 Jets Defenders are taken out of this return by timely blocks. Breaking it down: 1. Notice how Tupa's punt, while long, doesn't get much hangtime which gives Jermaine the room to fake going left and then switch direction which makes #53 run into #56 Anthony Davis who takes him out of the play. 2. Look how #34 on the Jets falls on his butt without anyone around him. Later on he'll be chasing Jermaine down the sidelines but cost himself valuable time with that slip. 3. The Jets tight end #81 gets off of #21 McAllister's block but is way too slow to catch the speedy Lewis and can't take a good angle in time. 4. It looks like #33 on the Jets is in position to make the tackle but #42 Anthony Mitchell alertly swoops in and throws a huge block. 5. Corey Harris #45, one of the best Special Team's blockers, completely smothers #25... 6. Which gives Jermaine a lane to move inside and elude the Jets tackler #56. 7. Just prior to that #57 OJ Brigance, another Ravens stud on Special Teams, picks up his assignment on #58 on the Jets. 8. #32 on the Jets is preoccupied with #86 Billy Davis and #51 Cornell Brown and by the time he realizes what's happening, Jermaine sprints past him. 9. #22 Duane Starks takes the right angle to block Tupa which gives Lewis the room to cut outside on the sidelines and turn on the burners. 10. This means that #47 isn't close enough to make the tackle and has to make a desperate diving attempt. 11. #83 on the Jets had been tied up by #38 James Trapp which slows him down and he can't catch up to Jermaine after he broke loose. So many moving pieces and really highlights how good the Ravens special team unit was in 2000.

I remember with 3 games left they said that both the Jets and the Ravens could make the playoffs by simply winning one more game. The Ravens won all three of the games that were left and went on to win the SB. The Jets on the other hand lost all three to miss the playoffs completely. The Jet's offense gets credit for putting up so many points against maybe the best defense ever. It just wasn't enough.
