funny title. That south americana is awesome. I'm a big guy and Americanas are my goto but people get used to me and hold in their arms and I get stuck so thank you. Love your videos. Need the OG black belt youtubers to keep going, some of the new channels are really bad and some of the good teachers on youtube are not very dedicated so you just get these little one off videos, some of which are useful but it's hard to get a whole system from those types of videos. There's lots of content but it's not always good or useful. Your stuff is pretty good. Thanks

I’ve been using the Americana for almost all my BJJ career and never failed me. Of course, I had to evolve as I went.. Great video!

I'm a 165 pound blue belt but this is my best sub. I've tapped a black belt with it but he was smaller. I've tapped 2 brown belts with it both larger. Several purple belts most larger. Many white belts of course. I get it by switching from chest to chest side control when the frame on the neck I switch to scarf hold and catch the arm floating. Once I get the grip I reinforce it with my head. Now its 3 against one and prevents them defending by weaving their head inside. Then I sprawl on the near side shoulder at a slightly north angle to flatten them and its an easy finish

Great stuff! I hit an Americana from the broken scarf hold just yesterday. It wasn't what I had in mind, but ended up working pretty well.

I really like that last one from side control. My body has decided that buggy chokes aren't going to happen, so it's nice to explore options from there.

Same for me. Never hit a buggy choke yet, but still other good options.

Love all your videos! Especially the video of attacks from your back.. the one that starts with the 2 chokes then goes to the arm bar, triangle then omaplata! I use that sequence EVERYTIME while on my back

The americana has always been a pretty high percentage move for me but I do like some of the little details here. Side note: about the only time I'll go for an americana from mount is to set up an armbar on the other side.

Definitely the most popular use for Americanas, I think - to threaten them to set up other subs. 🙌

Why is this sub rarely used in high lvl. Ive done mostly no gi grappling probably around blue belt lvl and this is one of my favorite subs and I used to get it a lot when I trained. How come we don’t see it as much at the top lvl? It does require a lot of control and that’s probably why Kimura usually is a safer option but it does require much more rotation in compressing. Just think it should be used more or am what am I missing?
@KnightJiuJitsu4 ай бұрын
It’s a good question. I personally think it’s a combination of poor mechanics by people who try, combined with the fact that many people will only use it as a threat to set up something else. However, very recently, it’s been making a comeback in high level competition. So maybe we will see a resurgence of it.

I've been autistically obsessed with this since i left jiu jitsu lol i guess i have to go back and actually get good but like i really think he's not quite right about the americana behind the neck, hes just moving in the wrong direction lol, to finish you gotta move perpendicular to angle of the humerus which happens to be at the elbow and wrist if the arm is at 90 degrees but if the arm is at a smaller angle you just arent doing an americana anymore if you touch the elbow, you're just moving the arm the way it is supposed to move, you gotta bend down not out, make their wrist touch the back of their shoulder(it can't unless its broken), its also not about using your wrist like some say its about the angle, you just cant not use your wrists "like a motorcycle" when the leverage point is on your wrist. I suck at jiu jitsu and im not even injured anymore but i did finish this a few times and im pretty sure im right lol 😅 Wouldn't be the first time ive done the "impossible" 🙄
@KnightJiuJitsu Жыл бұрын
I’m not just making this up. I’ve been doing this for around 30 years and the details I’m explaining are factual. I think you need to get back to training a little more, man.
@phillip4307 Жыл бұрын
@Knight Jiu-Jitsu Well technically it's a Boudreau lock because you are "closing" the arm by trying to touch it to the back of his shoulder rather than rotating the elbow past where it belongs. But it's a submission and it definetely works lol. It's a more rare submission and I know this video was about americanas lol but you're an idiot for saying it doesn't work. I'm trying to be helpful and you're being kind of a bitch, be humble, man.
@battlefieldsbjj Жыл бұрын
@@phillip4307 1 subscriber, no videos, woeful English run on sentences that say very little, admittedly doesn't train, thinks being "autistically obsessed" means anything compared to a black belt with decades of experience, AND YOU'RE telling him to be humble? Jesus fuck, Knight Jiu Jitsu doesn't need me to "white knight" for him, but goddamn, your hubris is amazing. You should consider doing a video series on how to be an arrogant dumb arse.

I would find it way more useful if you could make videos with bigger and stronger opponents. Nobody needs to learn how to dominate little school girls.
@KnightJiuJitsu Жыл бұрын
Demonstrations can be done on anyone. There is no competition or resistance in a demo. I don’t make videos on “how to dominate school girls.” Sorry if that’s hard to understand. With a little training, I’m sure it’ll start to make sense to you.
