Make huge Capacity Propane Torch

Replace the 15 oz benzomatic torch tank with a standard 15 lb propane tank for a near unlimited use. The only thing needed is a Charbroil universal hose adaptor available from most hardware stores. I got mine from Lowes.

Teflon tape is used for thread sealing. The propane fitting you're talking about is gasket sealing. The Teflon tape will take up space and make it harder to achieve proper gasket compression, increasing your chances of a leak!

I just bought a push-on cartridge soft soldering set only to figure oit after it arrived that it can only hold a 190 gram cartridge. Good thing is the hand torch connects to the cartridge holder with a hose so I only need to buy a regulator and fit it to a proper tank. Question is (it's an Italian torch so like always, they did a crappy job with the manual) how do I figure out if I need a 3 or 4 bar regulator?

Im not sure. The one i use is just a standard propane gas regulator.

It's obvious you don't go camping. The hose you bought is used to service camp stoves, propane lights, etc. it can be hooked into a multi branch Tower and feed lines then hook up to all these other devices. It's is very similar to a Power Bar used with electricity.

You are right!! Haha Yes I don’t go camping a whole lot. Yes that hose is multipurpose like you say for a gas manifold. The vid is just my take on using it for something else.

I would recommend using some type of "Flashback Resistor" maybe one from and Oxy Acetylene torch would work, not to sure though.. I imagine they have them for propane as well!! Then you can add a small bottle or bigger tank for oxygen too!! Maybe runn Map fuel. Thanks for sharing!!

@@BrianDhvTinkerer g'day mate, what burner are you using, or the hose the actual gun, all I can find is a swivel head version looks very awkward to use the burner your using is upright and makes it much easier to use by the looks of it

I did the same thing except my hose is longer and its metal. Now my torch is leaking oily liquid and doesn't work well. Does anyone have this problem? Should there be a regulator on the tank/hose?

Yes!! Mr heater makes a LP filter that you just screw in line between the hose and whatever you're hooking it up to.

I've done plenty of braising with a similar torch. If the base material is too massive it might not work, but for small items it works well. I have an oxyacetylene setup but don't bother with it for braising small things. Propane is a lot cheaper than acetylene or mapp gas too.

Depends on a lot of factors. Propane can struggle getting large metal objects hot enough. If both surfaces aren't at the proper temperature, the brazing metal wont get a proper bond. And don't expect do anything more than soldering if you're using a $20 bernzomatic brass torch. The turbo torches like Bernzomatic TS8000 and TS4000 put out far more heat. They also cost $40-$50 usd. This isn't one of those things that you'd want to buy from some unknown company on Ebay. Stick with name brand stuff.

if you tag that hose with the torch some how, do you think theirs going to be a fk-ton of propane gushing out with a open flame still lit? , i know the "bullet" that pushes the safety valve open on that tank has like a 3/32 hole but that gas is under something like 3k psi? i like the idea alot , iv heated a cab of a machine with a torch in the cup holder so dont take me as a safety Nazi, I just honestly dont know...

That is a high temp, fiber reinforced hose and should hold up as long as you don't keep the flame on it for too long. But i do agree that he needs a regulator on that. You'd think seeing the plume of gas blown off when they open the bleeder valve while filling would be enough to beat it into peoples heads that there is a lot of pressure here.

I'm curious where you're getting your figures--everything that I can find puts standard grill-type propane tanks like shown in the video at ~200PSI depending on ambient temp. The supplier of the tank shown's documentation agrees: bluerhino.com/propane-info/faqs/tank-use-faqs

Almost all sstc and drsstc tesla coils will create corona especially if there is a breakout point and they are driven at high enough voltage on the primary and have enough secondary turns. SSTCs can be run in continuous (CW) wave mode and produce a silent or lightly hissing corona discharge. However, if this "silent" corona is modulated i.e. pulsed on and off, then you will hear this frequency that it is pulsed at. If instead of using a fixed frequency, the corona is pulsed on and off to the beat of MIDI (digital) input signal, then you will hear this as a tune depending on what MIDI track you are playing. If instead of midi you change the amplitude of the corona according to an analog input such as from a CD player, or the headphone output from a phone or other music player, then you will hear this as amplitude modulated (AM) music. The oscillating frequency of the tesla coil should be above the audible range i.e. 20kHz for the best quality sound. preferably it should be oscillating at 4 MHz or greater for the best analog reproduction. For MIDI, the frequency is less important as long as it is above 20kHz.

+Pirat Carribean connect + of audio output to 5k pot to 10 uF ceramic cap to the base. Connect - of audio o/p to neg ground. This should work :)

please do not put tape or pipe dope on those threads they do not work that way if you assemble this at your own risk first by gas leak detector do not use soap (soap pipe dope tape are not meant for these seals they degrade them) assemble it turn on the tank leave the torch valve off then apply leak detector to the two fittings (were you screwed them together) at the tank and bottom of torch then wait 5 mins and check to see if there is a cluster of bubles if so you have a leak if not you are good to go please do this and practice safe lighting and use of torch
