We're doing a use-it-up pantry challenge this week. I often do check my pantry first to see what will work with proteins on sale for freezer meals. This week is just some breakfast and lunch things we're using up. Made chocolate chocolate chip waffles out of 2 packages of muffin mix for kids for breakfast and threw the rest in the freezer for a few future breakfasts today. For lunch, we're using up some other pantry items for soup.

Perfect timing for me. I just finished making some fruitcake cookies. I used a white cake mix ,enriched, and just added the fruitcake fruits. All leftover over from last year ( kept in the freezer), they turned out delicious.

Those sound really good and a great use of things you already had on hand!

@JoanWakefield....I hate fruitcake but I love fruitcake cookies. My grandmother made them when I was little (I'm 62 now) and could eat my weight in them. She used a recipe that I think was handed down. She never used a cake mix. I think I'll make me some this week with this reminder. Just cleaned out my freezers and found some of the fruitcake fruits that need to be used. Thanks.

@Cooking_Through_Time I used the cake mix because it was there, to enrich it I used 1more egg, milk instead of water and melted butter instead of oil.

@@JoanWakefieldI may try that this time. Thanks.

Thank you! I blew my own mind with that one! lol I'm sure others knew the trick but it's been so helpful! I've done it so many times. I have started my Christmas baking and have tried to do it with waxed paper as well but it doesn't hold up. It seems to tear when wet, so if you want to do it, you have to be extremely gentle.

I’m with you Sharla. I have a cheese drawer with only cheese. I also have a cheese bin in my freezer with cheese and butter. Got to have it on hand.

I love permshern busherpers! I have been watching Street Cooking videos just to explore different ideas in bulk cooking. So neat. I like to watch people make a lot of food. I'm often impressed with their abilities! I even watched how they cook for the Military! I watched them cook for the largest Truck Stop Buffet! I have gained many new ideas from this. Never stop exploring! You might just discover something wonderful! And if not, you can always just bury it in the back yard! And don't let the dog out! Ha ha! Peace!

I have to ask: What are permshern busherpers? I treid to google it and even google didn't have an answer for me. lol I'm in awe of street cooking videos as well. Especially when they can do so much with so few tools. My friend's sister-in-law is Chinese and she was mind-blown by watching her make dumplings with a tiny rolling pin and a pair of chopsticks while we sit here in North America with every kitchen tool that has ever existed!

Can you have celery root?
@FreezerMeals10117 күн бұрын
No. No celery seed either which is in a surprising amount of seasoning blends.
@patriciabellah939217 күн бұрын
@FreezerMeals101 ok wasn't sure cause I heard somewhere that celery root isn't actually in the celery family. Which I thought was crazy. LoL

Does the government not allow you to drill wells?
@FreezerMeals10117 күн бұрын
Depending on where you live here, the well water can be unpleasant so while some people do have well water, most who live out in the country have cisterns and truck the water in.
@User04678name17 күн бұрын
That’s interesting! We live rural and drill wells, or have springs!
