Go to your gmail account and see if your mom contact is labeled mom. If not modify and after it sync it may call dear ole mom the correct way.

Karan Dobaria, I looked into this and at the moment it's only the US areas that have that function,Google announced they will send updates this year to download that option for the UK so we can dial contacts through Google Home but they carnt confirm a date yet for this to happen but it will.

I’ve always had a dislike for doorbells & phones ringing. I would love to be able to stop my Google Mini Hub from ringing when I get a phone call. It rings sooooo loud. I will have to get rid of it if I can’t stop it.

It’s using your cellphone to make calls. So whatever charges are applicable to that device.

It’s kinda confusing, every call I made triggered my cell phone. I’ll test later with it turned off. Most phone have unlimited calling anyways these days so that ties in somehow. This is off of googles help pages: If you are using your Project Fi or Google Voice account to make calls from Google Home, you can make calls to all the same countries your plan allows for including countries beyond Canada and U.S. You will be charged for such calls at the published rates of those respective services. If you aren’t using a Google Voice or Project Fi account, we offer free calling to most numbers in the U.S. and Canada.

Hi Steve. When I first installed my new Google home mini app, it had the three lines at the top like you talked about. But now whenever I open the app, the three lines are not there anymore. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled the app hoping that they would reappear. So I cannot get my Google mini to make phone calls. If you could help me with this, I would really appreciate it. And, although it recognizes when I ask it to read my audiobooks, it does not recognize my playlist from Google Play Music. I could sure use help with this stuff. Thank you, in advance.

I will as soon I get caught up. The concept is that your contact needs to be on the gmail account that your using for the home device . So you may have to export out of a device and import a csv file into google online 🤓. If your contacts are in another email account you will have to export with a computer and import into you gmail account. I understand, most people like me replace the landline for cellphones year ago. If a outage happens people will have to depend on cell tower that have generators. Google home will not work because the WiFi would be shut down.

I just bought 3 google home mini (I also own a google pixel2) My young kids both have gmail accounts and a cell phone line (they dont have a cell phone but I use the sim card for their gps watch (same sim card as my pixel) so my question is: Is there a way for me to set something up so google remember each kids voice and phone call list so they can call me from home anytime they want with their mini?

It used to work reliably, now it doesn’t work at all. It says it’s making the call and then gives the disconnect beep. All settings are correct.

Awesome Video! Used to only use the home, but got myself a Lenovo Smart Display. Not only a call, but I can do video calls now, and it's also connected to a few home minis that I have. Comes with a camera shutter as well, makes me less paranoid. You should try it out!

For some reason the first 2 times just would not work and I had all the setting on EVEN the UNIT instructed me on what to do and what to turn on and I look and all of it was on but, nope, it wasn't having that at all. So I redid the whole set up
