🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:01 *⚠️ Magnesium is essential for over 300 bodily functions, including heart health, mood regulation, and sleep improvement.* 00:01 *📉 Many common magnesium supplements, like magnesium oxide, have poor bioavailability, meaning only a small percentage is absorbed by the body.* 00:15 *🌱 Magnesium levels are affected by diet, stress, and food processing, so supplementation may be necessary for optimal health.* 00:27 *🛑 A daily intake of up to 400 mg is recommended, especially for those consuming processed foods which can deplete magnesium.* 03:00 *🏷️ It's crucial to check magnesium supplement labels to identify the type of magnesium included for best results.* 04:24 *📉 Only about 4% of magnesium oxide is bioavailable, making it a poor choice for supplementation despite being common and inexpensive.* 06:41 *✅ Magnesium citrate and glycinate are better absorbed and have fewer digestive side effects compared to magnesium oxide.* Made with HARPA AI

The same is true with zinc. The vast majority of supplements I've seen contain zinc oxide which has a very low bioavailability. In the case of a multivitamin, the dose is so low that once you factor in the bioavailability, the zinc oxide isn't going to have any effect at all. Go for zinc citrate if you can.
