I've slowly been learning the compositor from various channels and even had to look at film channels who use other software to learn color grading stuff. There really is a dearth of information about color grading with blender. I would definitely like to see not just the technical execution, but also like guidelines, tips and further reading/watching resources on color grading to make things look awesome. Awesome tutorial Grant I learned a lot. Especially the different Passes which I didn't quite notice till you brought it up!

Also a very concise and nice duration of the video, I choose this one because the other were over 40 min (perfectly explained in this time though). I had never used the compositor before, seemed intimidating, but now I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks!

Excellent intro to the compositor! I have a technical question: Does the compositor works 100% with the rendered image? Or does it take data from the original meshes in the 3d world? If it's 100% with the rendered, it blows my mind the amazing work it does.

When rendering, your application is creating several different layer passes that you've specified in the render options (for example, the AO layer like you mentioned or just the emission layer ) and then once it's rendered all of the layers individually, it combines them for a single output just like the compositor is showing you here! For some applications, you may want to export just the emission layer or normal layers etc on their own and there are absolutely ways to do that in blender as well.

At the point where we connect the 2nd denoise node to AO and then to composite node on the other end. My issue is I don't know where it's pluged into. Your screenncast key thingy is not on here so I don't know what you hit to connect it. Googled how to connect them and not finding it out. Even the doc. via Blender doesn't help either. So how are Lighten & 2nd Deniose nodes suppose to connect to the composite node? I can't go on w/o this Plz be more clear. I come across lots of tut.s with info missing that breaks the tut. and it can't be completed.
