I also read Dark Matter and LOVED it. I like romance books but I have to be in the mood for them. Some of them have me rolling my eyes the entire way through. It's not really a tag, but there a bunch of Booktubers who are part of a group (I think on Goodreads) who do Top 5 Wednesdays, where they pick their top five books in a given topic, and the most recent was Top 5 Books Without (or with very minimal) Romance. Any chance you could do something like that? A lot of the other vids were great, but I'd like to get some recs from you as well. Like you, I'm really not a fan of romance; if there must be romance, I prefer subtle, brief mentions. V.E. Schwab is already on my TBR, but one can never have too many recommendations. :)

I was so frustrated with that book -the writing was beautiful but the romance and the ending? Oh i could have flung that book out the window! okay that might be a bit extreme but it was frustrating! By the way... your constant mention of Mistborn makes me really want to pick up that series right away, even though i am still a bit hesitant about it for some strange reason. I highly recommend you read the shadow falls series by c.c. Hunter. it is a fantasy series with some romance, BUT it's not insta love or cringe worthy romance. the main character is bad ass and the plot is very exciting! Please read!!!!

The reason I hated the mortal instruments series was because of the awful romance especially starting from the fourth book. Once it got to that level I just gave up on the series. And OMG I freaking loved the scene of the kiss in Gathering of Shadows! I finished it late last night and the part that stuck with me most was that scene and I'm normally not huge on romance either but that was perfection

Ah you should definitely read more Sanderson's books! The Mistborn spin-off series is so freakin good.The first was kind of "light" but the sequels... holy shit (also has like the one of my fave romances, which says a lot b/c a generally don't like romance sub-plots) Also, I REALLY recommend you to read "The Rook" by Daniel O'Malley (wrote spoiler-free review abookwithoutend.wordpress.com/2017/02/02/book-review-the-rook/) if you want a awesome main character and story with no romance or romance sub-plots! I'm just like you, almost all romance make me cringe
