Hey Aaron, I don't know if you solved your Tieback issue, but I may have something you can try. I use photography backgrounds. They are a very strong nylon material, yet very thin and light weight, and come in a multitude of colors. I buy them from Amazon and cost about $15.00 - $20.00 each. I have been cutting strips and using this material for over four years, and it is fantastic. I am only about a third of the way through my initial purchased background.

i made 2 of these wallets this weekend and for a beginner, i think they came out decent. the question i have is why wont it stay closed when i sit it down? i put my granite on it over night to weigh it down and it is closed the next day. but when i open it and close it, it doesnt stay closed. is that due to the leather needing to break in? im sure once there is stuff in it and it is in the pocket it will help it stay closed. i just want to make sure i didnt screw something up since i am giving them as christmas gifts. lol i assembled it the same way as the video and cut the half circle out and sewed across. im hoping it is just a breaking in issue.

If using an actual scalpel (not an exacto blade), there might be some laser trash in the slot. Turn the blade over and use the non sharp side to push it out. If you are using an exacto style blade, that is thicker than a scalpel.

The tape will hold. As this wallet is used it will constantly be compressed. I've made them this way for almost 10 years and haven't had one fail yet.
@joeredskin22474 жыл бұрын
technically the tyvek isnt secured at all by the stitching however; there shouldn't be any pressure great enough from putting a card into the pocket to sepatate the tyvek and leather that is taped together. if it does happen then that would mean that someone tried to shove their card in hard enough to damage the lining, and having used this tape and tyvek myself i can assure you "under NORMAL use there is little to no chance that this tape will fail"

Never understood why anyone creates a fold over, increasing the thickness of the card slot section, for a segment they're just going to stitch directly to the back anyway? Pretty pointless. Just cut a single layer, tyvek the backside then stitch it to the inner cover like you did with the tri-fold center. Save yourself the extra 1/8th of an inch in thickness. The fold-over makes more sense in the Roper, where you're actually using the space. Other than that, it looks really good.

It is not stitched to the back on the folded side. It makes a pocket there that is pretty useful.
