@California_Carnivores3 жыл бұрын
@@MsGuyu I don’t recommend using the old soil. We have other landscapers/nurseries that come and take our old soil and mix it with their soils. For carnivorous plants, the soil builds up minerals and salts or starts to breakdown and these things will make your plant do poorly so you don’t want to reintroduce the old material back into the pot.

I am thinking of getting a mini bog garden kit from you guys, the 3 plant one, and I was wondering would it thrive in the southern San Joaquin valley? It gets very hot summers, typically surpassing 100 Mid June - Early September with nights in the 70s and chilly winters of temps in the upper 50s and lower 60s and 40s and 30s at nighttime Late December - Early March. Will they be able to go dormant and survive the extreme heat and very mild winter? I know it’s a bunch of questions but I really want a bog lol!

It should do well! The plants won’t mind the cold at all because they are dormant in winter. Your summers are probably a bit more intense then ours, up here in Sonoma County zone 9b. You could pot all of those up into a really nice, big outdoor bog. They won’t do as well in a terrarium indoors because they want full sun, good air flow and tons of insects. Or put a little shade cloth over them. Keep them well watered but because it’s so humid, you can let the tray only be filled to 1/4” and even let it dry out overnight.
