My absolute favorite cheater story was back in R6 when vote kick was still a thing, the dude had walls but really sucked at the game and was on our team. We killed him and threw the match until 1 more TK would ban us, so we chased him around and trapped him in a corner so the other team could win. Granted this was in ranked so we couldn't vote kick, but we did force a loss and the guy lost elo. Then in his almighty wisdom, dropped the "Gamer" word in chat, got reported by all 9 players, and banned instantly.

the only time its justifiable is if the game is broken? seriously? it's a pve game. as long as everyone in your squad is fine with it, i don't think it's bad to cheat. i know a lot of people who cheat in other coop games like helldivers 2, elden ring seamless coop etc, because frankly, at a certain point, it no longer becomes challenging - it becomes grindy, boring, and repetitive. why should i have to play 100 games in helldivers 2 just to scrape together enough premium currency to buy one, single battle pass? why should i have to play all the way up to the mountaintop of giants just for rivers of blood? why should i have to play decapitation 50 times in a row just to get a headgear for my tactical?

@@bombcat5517 because you enjoy the gameplay loop and want to improve. the kind of cheating you described ends up hurting the community because devs see your wins and think the game is too easy. Not to mention, if you aren't actually enjoying it anymore you can just go play or do something else. Mods are also different then cheats, as those are meant to alter the experiance while also stopping you from engaging with the broader community, because it is a modded client. Yes there are mods that are also so small as to not be impacting the game (alter the hud, changing icon colors, reskin of an item client side, ect). Even seemless coop sideline you from the rest of the elden ring player pool. They don't make the instant win.

Hell I recall a more recent one with Chivalry 2, where a cheater turned a Free For All match on Desert into an epic fight against a "dragon" (said dragon was the cheater flying around on a ballista - but he was actually living into this role the server gave him. Cheaters arent great, but some of them do make for fun moments like that, when they have morals)

Nah, cheating like this dude was doing is bad, he was ruining the experience of JeblesJr if it wasn't because he took advantage of being the one trolling the cheater + is what I call pussy behaviour in-gaming. In my case I would hate if someone makes it easier for me by using cheats without even asking, that makes it unfun for me and breaks my immersion, I like to take on the challenge the game is offering me without anyone "bending the rules". But hey cheaters that just do crazy stuff to impress someone and entertain them, like the example that @shoulderpyro is giving are cool, no problem with cheaters with morals, the problem is when they don't care if they're ruining the fun of the other player, which is usually the case like the one in this video.

I've run into my fair share of cheaters in that particular game as well, but out of the easy 30 I've run into, only one of them was the decent lad giving us that fun moment. As for cheaters in other games.. .well, not once have I run into a decent one there. So in a combined 3500 hours over various games on steam (cant include non-steam games unfortunately, dont have an accurate hour count of those).. ...I only ran into a /single/ "good" cheater. At least private lobbies should solve the issue of getting in with cheaters now, to some extent.
