It would depend on the size and detail of the helmet. This used about 1/3 of the gallon unit.

Why did you use Dragon Skin rather than Rebound 25?
@SOMadeByYou

The Dragon Skin 10 is softer and allows for more stretch and flexibility when demolding in this case.

Is it possible to buy a mold so you can cast it? I wouldn't be very good at sculpting my own master mold, so it would be great to buy one someone else already made. If anyone can give me a website to buy them or if this is really an option I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks so much for you video. I recent took a stab using Rebound 25. I was trying to mold an old, vintage 60's kids football helmet. Everything but the very top of the helmet came out good. The top is uncured after 2 days= it's still tacky. From my research I'm guessing it was the mix somehow. Strange that just the top was compromised. Are there any tricks that you know of to save the mold: something that could cure the uncured portion? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike, there may have been something on the helmet (paint, decals, etc.) which caused inhibition. Perhaps Smooth-On tech can help? www.smooth-on.com/support/ticket/add/agree/

Thanks for the response! It occurred to me later that I had initially cleaned the helmet with rubbing alcohol (which I thought would be a good idea). I figure that is what did it in. I was able to save the project, however, by scraping over the uncured silicone and shaving down the mold to the next cured layer. Of course, after casting I had to sand down the excess that came from the layer of silicone mold removed. Not ideal, but I'll take it over a complete loss!

How much Free Form Air is used to make the glove mold ?

Approximately 1 gallon unit.

Hi, I wanna ask about the free form air. Previously I use resin & fiberglass mat for mother mold. Since I dont have much space, resin fiber is very messy and exhausting. So I am thinking of getting smoothon Shell Shock for mother mold. But recently I saw people using free form air for mold including this video. What do you think of free form air compared to shell shock. Is it cheaper/more expensive for the same amount used? Is it stronger? thanks

Hello, Thank you for watching. You may want to look at either Free Form™ AIR or Plasti-Paste™ II. As these materials are used for making support shells. You can see the difference between the materials here - www.smooth-on.com/compare/2213/11033/r/

Smooth-On Fan Channel: Made By You Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes I have researched the differences of them all, but smooth-on does not have the amount comparison to make a mother mold. For example for 1 gallon of each, how many normal adult size helmet they can make each. Anyway thanks for the reply.
