as a fellow acorn-collecting goblin, make sure that none of the acorns you take into your house have little holes in them! Those are from acorn weevils layin' their eggs inside. They may be cute but their babies are horrible little grubs who I did not appreciate finding in my home among my trinkets

The hole is actually made when the larvae exit. When the weevil lays the egg, the acorn is still on the tree and the insertion hole heals and closes.
@MouseyKireena
@MouseyKireena 3 ай бұрын
So I learned something about acorns you might find fascinating! When the trees drop them with their hats, they've actually been "infected" by an acorn weevil. So they're dropped with the hat to kind of trap them in there and keep them from coming back. Acorns you find without their hats are actually the fully developed seeds, and their hats are still on the tree.

Idk if anyone has mentioned this but the cartridge pleating WAS worth all of your hard work. Different gathers and pleats lie different, and cartridge pleats create intentional vertical gathers which helps the fabric lay right where it’s all gathered up (ie it’s less “bulky”). Random gathers that happen from using a wide stitch and just, gathering, would give you a lot more bulk of fabric at the waist and leg bands, as well as they wouldn’t poof as nicely and uniformly. It would be noticeably different lol

@@BuffyNTinkDidImprov Yes, you slowly explore the backyard and find new creatures, some of which you fight and some of which are friends. You can build bases and unlock recipes to create new things, food, building plans, weapons, armor, etc. It's also very 80's coded so definitely takes some inspiration from Honey, I shrunk the kids and the Borrowers! You have to unravel the mystery of WHY you're little, how did you get shrunk, why are you here, etc. It's one of my favorite games!

I'm not sure which was more entertaining - the idea for the outfit, the (many) different techniques used to make it happen, the end result, the video techniques, or the reveal. I love Rachel's Aurumn Videos because it is like a new dose of serotonin, the vibes are perfect for her channel's aesthetic, and it means Halloween is almost here.

I think adding some stems to the shoulder caps to bring out the acorn look! But otherwise a squirrel tail would be so cute too!

I wanted to say thank you for providing such fun and comforting company while I'm stuck on my back recovering from surgery! What could have been very tedious and unpleasant has basically turned into a knitting-while-hanging-out-with-Rachel holiday 😂 thanks for making your content!

I was surprised she got a good image of a red squirrel ! They ARE native to Massachusetts (I live not far from Rachel - and no, I don't know exactly where she lives ! Mine lips are sealed!) BUT, the Grey squirrels that were introduced basically took over and chased the more shy, "demure" red squirrels away ! So, your chance of seeing a red squirrel are slight. Grey squirrels will "jump" you for snacks. They is tough little reprobates!

@@m.maclellan7147Yeah the red squirrel is native to us over here in NY too. I put peanuts out for the Bluejays and titmice but the red squirrels love to come to steal them. They are cute little creatures though.😊😂

here where I live it's 100% grey squirrels and they're definitely not "demure" (but they ARE "cutesy").

This would be an amazing Midsummer Night's Dream costume! I could totally see Puck wearing something like this, it could be a really interesting moment with the line "...that all their elves for fear / Creep into acorn cups and hide them there."
