This video is my process for forging feather damascus from 1045 and A203E which will later become a pair of one piece spurs. I chose these specific steels for the feather damascus because of their compatability, contrast when finished and the lack of need to be hard as a knife. All of the forge welding and drawing out is done on a hydraulic forging press. I'm doing all my clean up of the damascus with a Beaumont Metal Works KMG-TX. Editing help, music and voice over by Matt Stagmer of ThatWorks channel.

That is a VERY good video of feather Damascus - I really like your idea of using an axe to make the split. I just might have the nerve to try that one of these days. GOOD JOB!! and a VERY good job with the video. Music was where it should be - background!

Glad I found this lil piece of zen this morning. But it would be way cooler if you narrated it yourself amigo. Although I did chuckle at the “that’s just the way I do it” imitation of ya.

You can even make it without a power hammer and a press but it will take forever and you won´t get a big billet together :D

Ok ok ok........Ben did some jam-up work right there!! OUTSTANDING imho!! BUT!!!! Although this is not necessarily a bad thing. But that's the best dressed smith I've EVER seen!!! So either he's single. Or his wife said "Ooh no No NO!!! You are NOT going to be in a video wearing that!!!" (Normal work clothes). Because if my wife EVER caught me working in shirts that nice. I'd definitely be in a very unpleasant place for an undetermined amount of time. Or.....I'd get the Ooh no No NO thing. I mean really it's a toss up. Because ya never truly know which one you're going to get. Anyway, all in fun Ben. OUTSTANDING work Sir!!
@Hornytoadforge
@Hornytoadforge 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I had fun making this video. As for the shirts, I wear what I wear and it never hurts to look professional.

@@Hornytoadforge By all means Sir!! You do you. Obviously you're doing a great job!! My comment was strictly in fun, not making fun. I've always told any new technicians that "just because you work in the automotive repair industry. That doesn't mean that you have to look like a Greasemonkey!! Would you want a Greasemonkey getting into your 60, 70, or 80 thousand dollar vehicle? I think not!!" So I do wholeheartedly agree that looking and being professional (regardless of trade) is important!! I appreciate your time and efforts. Not just in your videos. But your time to respond to my comment. Thank You Sir for all your time and efforts! They are truly appreciated Ben 😊

Anyone that knows Mr. Snure knows this is how he dresses everyday. And I look at it as a testament to his level of talent and craftsmanship to be able to forge without dirtying his shirt.

@jmbstudio6873
@jmbstudio6873 Жыл бұрын
An axe?!? Perhaps a hot chisel made out of H13 should be on your list instead of ruining axes. Also you are supposed to cut the billet with minimal resistance and an axe isnt the best choice. Im not sure why no one adds a piece of stock to the middle after splitting the billet. The stock would be the hollow shaft of the feather and dramatically improve the realism and overall appearance. Forge On!!!
