Hi! Kimbap is one of my favorite foods. I usually eat it with shrimp and avocado or salmon, cucumber and sesame seeds. I have noticed that koreans eat it with eggs as well but I've never tried it and I'm really curious what it tastes like. I haven't found a restaurant that has that option and I've never tried making it myself. I might as well give it a shot now!

I was introduced to kimbap when I taught conversational English in Seoul. I was invited to many picnics where I came to really enjoy it. To this day I will gobble down way more than I should, mostly because I purchased it as takeout from a Korean restaurant and didn’t put in the time to make it. I've tried making kimbap a couple of times because it's just so delicious, but I always have trouble cutting it. I also haven't put the sesame oil on it at the end, so will do that next time for sure! Love seeing Mommy Oh's recipes.

Sushi came first though! There are some differences too. Sushi uses sushi rice, kimbap uses short grain rice. Sushi rice is seasoned with sugar, salt and mirin or rice wine vinegar where kimbap rice is just salted and seasoned with sesame oil. Also you don't see pickled ginger, soy sauce or wasabi with kimbap! :)
