Before I even watch the video: been thinking about making hex-based maps to do my first DnD session some day. This is pretty much what I was thinking of, looking interesting. I don't know if I'll ever get to use it, but regardless: thanks in advance.

it cant be imported into unreal and if it can its not the map open in blender. any way I can download just the map part that I made in blender without it being randomly generated?
@TheObservatoryShow3 жыл бұрын
You'll want to unwrap your base models, and then apply all the modifiers. You should be able at that point to export the mesh. It'd probably be easier to recreate the materials within Unreal, rather than baking them in Blender. I think this should get you started at least, I really only work within Blender for the most part so I hope this helps!

Wow.. I'm watching to start creating a map. Nice tutorial! But in Blender 3.0 and it doesn't have the Node "Point Instances" Suggestion: Update the tutotial creating a system to remove exagons (like minecraft blocks)?

We are planning on creating an updated version of this tutorial for 3.0! It's currently in the works, so hopefully soon™! Thanks for watching!

I used the "instance point node" instead, then I connect the Hexagon mesh on "Instance" (you can put objects menu on Geometry Nodes draging they from Outline menu) It's one step more to have a Hexagon box on the Geometry Nodes instead of simply chosing by name on "Point Instance", for my my experience the effect is the same)

I love it! I am following the tutorial step by step, but somehow my hexes change height with the cloud texture, but I cant see the greyscale in the Material view. Any thoughs? Thank you!
@TheObservatoryShow3 жыл бұрын
Make sure you're select on the Hex Object when you create that material, not the World Gen! You can select the Hex object and choose the material from the list if you accidentally created it on the World Gen object. Let me know if this helps, thanks for watching 😄

great tutorial your amazing man but i do have some problems with the attribute sample texture since i cant seem to find it(im on 3.0) is there any replacements for it? Edit:I just found out a way so you basically drag the checkerboard icon from the displacement node into the geometry nodes and it creates a "legacy node" though it might disappear next update
@TheObservatoryShow2 жыл бұрын
Geometry nodes are a little tricky currently, because of all the work they're doing on them currently! I'm hoping to update this one for 3.0 and beyond at some point! Thank you very much for watching, and for the updated info!

либо вернуть старые ноды kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKDaeJhno7GahZI&ab_channel=NomadCaviare

hate to be that guy... but... it was driving me a tad nuts and you say the word a bazillion times and I cringed every time. The word ATTRIBUTE can be used as a verb and a noun but the pronunciations are quite different. The verb means to apply a quality to something or something caused something else. This is the pronunciation you used in the video, the verb. The correct pronunciation for the nodes in blender would be for the noun usage of ATTRIBUTE. Something has an attribute. That is the usage in nodes. The nodes have attributes. For this video it isn't the verb pronunciation it should be the noun.
