I’m about to modify this before giving to my 8yr old daughter, so she can get use to something that can be a little fast for her for the 1st time. (With a helmet and pads.) 13 or 14yrs old, quads. Can’t wait for that day. My dad and I would ride quads every weekend in the desert. Phoenix, Arizona!!

Yeah, make sure you put protective gear on her. These upgrades can get a little dangerous if she isn’t used to the speed. Let me know if you run into any issues with the conversion.

Should definitely do a more in depth tutorial on what you did was the conversion kit already assembled or did you need to strip and twist to attach?

I'm trying to upgrade my kids scooter too. Wouldn't it be safer to just use a 12 volt or 18-volt lithium drill battery instead of a 20 volt?
@DIYwithDUY4 ай бұрын
Yes, you are correct. 12v lithium battery would be ideal if you want the speed the same as the factory razor 12v battery. The scooter will be reliable, but speed will be the same as the factory battery. The more you overvolt the motor and controller, the faster the scooter will be. The downside is that the scooter will be less reliable. A good median would be to use the 18 or 20 volt battery and add an adjustable voltage reducer to decrease the voltage to 15volts. www.amazon.com/DROK-Waterproof-Converter-Adjustable-Transformer/dp/B00C0KL1OM/ Here is us testing the 20v battery. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKWoo4yHaNhqrsUfeature=shared

So if I swap the battery do I need to swap the limiter too or no because I trying to swap the 12v to a 20v but only have a 12 limiter but I seen a video how to reset it so what will happen
@DIYwithDUY2 ай бұрын
Hi, you do not need to swap the limiter. You can bypass the power switch just like how I did it in this video with a 30amp fuse. The scooter will be fast. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for the video. I was thinking about grabbing a battery and charger from harbor freight or even walmarts new power tool line. I hate to give up 1 of my dewalt batteries lol . I did recently discover adapters so i could use brand battery on any brand tool. Youve more than earned my sub
@DIYwithDUY11 ай бұрын
No problem, I love making these videos. Yeah, I’m pretty sure most of the power tool lithium batteries are comparable to each other and will work well for a Razor scooter. The power tool battery adapters are great, especially the ones that come with a 30amp inline fuse and switch on the battery adapter. It makes it a little easier for the kids to turn off the battery when not in use. I am currently upgrading a E100 razor power core 24v scooter and will post a video when it’s completed. It’s going to have 2 dewalt batteries, variable throttle controller, headlight and taillight. Thanks for subscribing to the channel.

Awesome man, I just bought like 5 for Christmas and gave them to all the nieces and nephews in my family. They range anywhere from five years to eight and the older they get the scooters will need the upgrades. I’m pretty knowledgeable when it comes to mechanical stuff I need a little help on the electrical side. Are you familiar with controllers?
@allenrusselljr10 ай бұрын
@@Christian2381 I'm actually a small engine mechanic (zero turns, 4 wheelers, mowers) so I'm familiar with basic electrical setups (with staters, rectifiers). As for remotes I'm not too familiar. I'm looking into a key fob controlled wireless shut off switch for my son's scooter. He's 7 and autistic so sometimes he doesn't stop and he has no fear of cars or roads. He's too quick for me to reliably be able to catch. So far I've found the perfect shit off setup for 20 or less and it's easy to wire.

How does it charge? And how long does it run and how long does the battery last?
@DIYwithDUY10 ай бұрын
I currently remove the battery and use the factory dewalt charger to recharge the 20v lithium battery. I don’t use the factory charger because it’s not rated for 20v. The scooter lasts approximately 40 minutes. We have spare batteries we can pop in to keep riding if needed. Here a video of us testing the scooter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKWoo4yHaNhqrsUsi=fvfa2FPU1HfIZCfz

So even though the system is ment for 12vs, can it still run ok on a 36v hoverboard battery?
@DIYwithDUY8 ай бұрын
Hi, it is usually safe to run a motor at a 10% voltage increase over the listed motor voltage without much damage to the motor. I am a little riskier than a lot of other people and like to run 20v batteries on 12v motors, but that’s the maximum voltage I would run. I think your 36v battery is too strong and would probably burn up the 12v motor pretty fast. You could add a step down voltage regulator to decrease the voltage of the 36v battery to 20v, and that would give similar result to the battery I installed in this video. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for checking out the video.

No problem, glad the video helped. I just finished up another conversion upgrade on a E100 power core scooter. I upgraded the throttle to a full range variable throttle and running a pair of 20V batteries on the factory 24v motor. It’s pretty quick. I’ll post the tutorial video soon.

@@DargonDahood Correct, the 4ah Dewalt battery lasts 40 minutes with my daughter on the scooter. She weighs 60 pounds. If your child is lighter, it should last even longer. Yes, you can probably make it yourself if you have a 3D printer or block of wood. I have not tried making one from scratch yet. There are only 2 pins you need to connect on the drill battery to get power to your scooter. The battery is marked with a + and -. For Dewalt batteries, it’s the 2 outer pins that are marked with + and -.

Do they make aftermarket 24 v motors for these?
@DIYwithDUY10 ай бұрын
Hi, the Razor e100 has a similar hub motor that is rated at 24V. I have both the e90 and e100 scooter. I tried swapping the larger 24v motor onto the e90, but the mounting bracket for the rear wheel was too small and did not fit correctly. There are a lot of aftermarket 24v hub motors that would probably work better. If you are handy, you can probably make an extended rear swing arm to install any rear wheel you want.
