Picard has no information about Renée from La Sirena's on-board computer from the changed timeline. This have his prime line information. If Tallinn was not a supervisor but a Talshiar agent from the future, why would she watch Renée fly to Europa when, according to "your construct", this would create a timeline of human control of the Galaxy? Q when he still had the ability to send Picard with the others "to help him fully understand " the changed line "through which he got to the time of the prime line!. Jurati Borg Qeen was from this altered line where the Borg were exterminated and only the Queen remained, so she needed "power" because the Borg's lines were destroyed and only the "Queen" remained.when the Borg queen first met Jurati her voice was "angry" Jurati herself when she was then in the queen's "brain" she said there was more hidden information! So the Borg Queen knew it would happen and wanted to change it for herself. Destroy the "Soong Line" and the Prime Line and create yours where it ruled the Galaxy! Therefore she was "confused" in that temporal flow in that lab.

In TNG Picard was responsible for the creation of the anomaly. Now he is responsible for the time mess. Watcher is the Romulan spy who should prevent the time change, so Picard became the explorer and help them in the future. Self-destruct of the Stargazer led Jurati disappear, that means no Borg-Jurati. Q gave Picard and his crew the ability to recall the explorer-timeline. What did Q say at the end when he left Guinan?

You have the Borg Queen right, But she came back to prevent her execution. She used Picard for a do over. While Picard and Q are trying to straighten time back. The Borg Queen sees earth as it's new Hub Central in the Alpha quadrant. Knowing that the Vulcans, Romulans, Klingoins, and every other Alpha quadrant species still not warp capable yet. And the Borg Queen has files on all of them. Her move for Picard was her hail mary saving grace play. This is an alternate time line that mirrors their own time line. That's why Q powers are different also. Their are in a slight time line variance. Where things are off by just a different person. But still mirrors their own time line.

This contains several errors. The "Corrupted Timeline" was not corrupted until *after* the failure of the Europa mission. Also, Jean-Luc Picard DID know about Renée Picard. He mentioned her in his Academy speech. He just didn't have a lot of details about her because in Star Trek Prime timeline, the historical record of the first half of the 21st century is sketchy for... reasons. Also also, it is explicitly stated that if the Europa mission succeeds, it will make Adam Soong's research obsolete. Did you even watch the episodes? Also, also also it is never stated anywhere that the Watchers want to make humanity "stronger." Also also also also, the Romulan Star Empire definitely exists in 2024. Do you think that the RES was established on the day that the NX-01 Enterprise encountered the cloaked minefield? The Romulans originated from dissident Vulcans who rejected Surak's philosophy of peace, during the Time of Awakening and emigrated from their homeworld around the 4th century.

Agreed that the "Corrupted Timeline" was not corrupted until after the failure of the Europa mission. In fact, Europa Mission is essential for the prime (correct) timeline. I am just wondering: who transports Picard/Seven... to the corrupted timeline in the first place? Is it Q? or Queen?

Michael, Thanks for the comment! Q admitted to not being responsible for the TIme Shift in the most recent episode. Also, Picard mentioned a cousin Rene that did something important in the solar system, but he doesn't mention Europa. Rios calls the Rene in 2024 Picard's great aunt, so it seems to be a different Rene or the writers made a mistake. There are a lot of Rene's in the Picard family it would seem. Even his nephew!

1) Episode 1 of S2 begins with Picard speaking at Star Fleet Academy about his ancestor's role on a critical mission - I don't recall exactly, but I think he was referring to Renee Picard. He just doesn't know the specifics of the mission or the details of her personal life in the time period. 2) Q has set out to sabotage Renee. First, he tried to snap his fingers to alter her destiny but his powers failed him, so he decided to manipulate others to prevent her launch - talking Renee out of it as her psychiatrist, using the Doctor's ambition for his research with the potential cure for his "daughter." 3) The new Queen Borg explains that the life form Renee brings back from Europa makes the Doctor's life's work obsolete, and that by scrubbing the launch, he'll become a kind of founding father for the Confederation of the corrupted timeline. This show doesn't do subtle. It spells out exactly what's what because if it didn't, you couldn't follow the thin thread of a cohesive plot. This means that Q is trying to create the corrupted timeline he sent Picard into - which he told Picard was a penance. A penance for WHAT, though? For not trusting The Borg? For interfering with the Q? For not making sweet love to the Romulan caretaker? For who he would have become if his life unfolded differently? lol. A penance is a self-inflicted punishment - something you do to yourself because you feel you deserve to be punished. What has Picard done to sentence himself to living in the corrupted timeline as a genocidal monster in a confederation of other monsters? Q isn't the good guy. He's at a minimum testing Picard. The trial never ends. The fate of humanity was in the balance for both previous tests. I expect this is the same. But, more than that, it's a test of whether or not humanity can evolve. The first test was whether or not humanity would resort to violence out of fear - to regress to barbarism. The second was whether Picard was capable of thinking 4th dimensionally by realizing he created an explosion travelling backwards through time by scanning the same area w/ tachyons with 3 different ships in 3 different time periods. Q is dying and is pissed about it. It's very possible he blames Picard, but more likely, he thinks that by forcing Picard / humanity to evolve again - by Picard breaking out of the trap Q created, Q will either also evolve rather than die... or at least find meaning in his existence by elevating humanity before he dies. I think Q created the corrupted timeline and OFFERED Picard a way out wayyyy back in the 2nd episode. Picard refused to play the game Q's way & went off time travelling on his own w/ his crew. Them being in the past wasn't Q's doing, and he doesn't want them there. He's not particularly interested in helping them either. But, I think yes, New Borg Queen will end up being the same queen we saw at the beginning & if/when Picard chooses differently - to trust her, she'll use the power of the ships to seal the time breach and resolve the paradoxes.

That would make sense if the Queen couldn't seal the rift herself. She had a limited amount of time to seal the rift, but Picard chose the wrong path.

Great info here. Your first point Picard was talking about a cousine Rene doing something important in the solar system. Rios refers to the 2024 Rene as his great aunt. There are a lot of Rene Picardy it would seem. As odd as it is, we don't think the one he mentions in the beginning is the same one we are currently dealing with. Even his brother is a Rene! :)

I'd have to re-watch it to refresh my memory and pick it apart some more, and I'm just not ready to subject myself to it. ;) But, if the issue is with "cousin" vs "great aunt" - I'd say that cousin is a word that's often used to simply mean "a relative" instead of a specific familial relationship - like in Romeo and Juliet where all the Capulets are "cousins" even though they're related to each other in different ways.

I still hope we find out why Picard was on the floor when he woke up in the corrupted timeline. I don't think helping Renee was the wrong move, but I don't really know. I think it was great when Q pointed out to Guinan that he didn't put anyone in the past, they did that for themselves. It sounded like he didn't expect that solution, which makes it sound like there was a different path they could have taken.

Also of note: When Picard first meets Q back at the Chateau in the corrupted timeline, Q still has his powers. After Picard and crew went to 2024, Q lost access to his powers. Which genuinely surprised him. Implying that whatever Picard did (or will do), has stripped Q of his powers. Temporarily though it may be.

SPOILER QUESTION: How did Guinan (at the end of E10) remember Rios? Either she was the corrupted timeline Guinan who never met Picard in the 1800s or she's the original Guinan and the corrupted timeline never happened (for her). So which is it? You can have original Guinan with memories of an alternate timeline... at least not such specific ones... ("I don't have alternate biographies of the crew" -Guinan in Yesterday's Enterprise...)

Just a small add from me, loved the video! The Romulan Star Empire (or rather just the Romulans) separated from Vulcan a few thousand years ago (I believe, as opposed to a few centuries) and although they didn't necessarily need FTL travel capabilities to do that, by the time they settled and developed their own technology, it's not wild to think they'd be wrap capable as well, just like the Vulcans were by 2063 to make First Contact. I think a twist with Tallinn though would be sweet!

In Enterprise the Vulcans were on Earth in the late 40s early 50s at Carbon Creek, so they obviously had warp then and I would think so would the Romulans.

Yeah. If we go strictly by Balance of Terror, Romulans had Warp Drive but not antimatter technology, and were likely travelling at far slower speeds than anything seen even in Enterprise's era (except the freighters that moved at Warp 2). It may even be possible that the Romulans were picked up similarly to Gary 7, and the Fates decided that Picard needed to be messed with so Talin was the operative assigned to Earth. I'm glad they reminded me of Gary and the Supervisors. That will feature in my game based off of the alternate universe to Trek, the Star Fleet Universe from ADB.

I got it. After time travel the Queen-Jurati is exhausted and need power to regenerate and she gives Picard clues to calm down and not overreact. She wanna talk to him and explain WTF happened. Picard (and others) overreact out of fear. The destruction of the Stargazer starts the whole mess with the timeline. Q, the nicest guy, wanna help Picard and teach him the last lesson. He gives him and other the memory of the explorer timeline. The new trial and Picard makes again the wrong choices. Q was very angry with JL but he has no clue why. Remember the scene when Q lost his powers? He knew it will happen but why it was unfortunate? Because he stuck and has to manipulate the others to make the humans the explorer again. The watcher is also interested in explorer timeline, so Picard will help the Romulans in the future. So many "butterflies effects" happen. Queen-Jurati is now the biggest butterfly in this mess that Picard started. What did Q say at the end when he left Guinan?

There is no paradox. Just because they correct the events that led them to got here they still went there. Just like in TNG when they met the shuttle from six hours in the future. At the close the older Picard and the shuttle vanished. What he did there still remained. The crew interacted him while he was there. Or yesterday's Enterprise where they altered the future. Only Tasha was left but she remained after the timeline was fixed. Her actions still occured (at least to her memory). VOY endgame, Janeway traveled back by herself and once her timeline was erased she still remained only dying due to the Borg Queen assimilation. Let's not forget about TOS and city on the edge of forever. One timeline there is no USS Enterprise, one there is. The events that kirk and Spock changed still occured for them to do it. In all these cases they still occur. The paradox talk is all because of that old episode not occurring. Did Lt. Picard go back in time in Tapestry? Or did the altered version of Picard in yesterday's enterprise where for all we know the events that led Data to go back might not have occured. Are we assuming in ENT storm front they in 2360's would go back in that altered timeline? Then there is the way this occured via Q. So I think we should wait and actually put pen to paper and compare and contrast other occurrences before we past judgment on the "paradox". Otherwise Ds9 ep where they meet their descendents and then they cease to exist because Odo changed plans for them. That's a paradox that's ignored while most people bash the heck out of season 2. I'm not saying that's what you are doing I'm just saying way too many people wanna piss on season 2 before it's over.

The Multiple Timeline is not new in Star Trek. TNG's final episode we saw multiple Enterprise's from different timeline. One even has a Captain Riker from a timeline that the Borg dominated.

The ship is from the corrupted timeline, not the prime timeline, the information in its data base would be from the corrupted timeline.

Thank you Steven! The La Sirena that they flew back in time with came from the Corrupted "MIrror Universe" timeline, so any information learned from that vessel would have information from the Corrupted Timeline only :) Hope that helps!

I think everyone’s comments and speculations are fascinating. I do feel though the story does appear complex and convoluted but maybe much simpler than we think. I consider connecting what is happening to humanity now an important aspect. Nothing is linear. We are all made up of our own individual realities, experiences, feelings, all of it. Picard and Seven both are influenced by what has happened to them from their childhood, Traumas are a part of who we are. Learning to trust is important. We all have more similarities than differences. There are no others. Trying to make sense of a confusing world helps us to evolve. Someone mentioned evolvement idea in a comment. Juarati, Picard as Locutus, and Seven as Annika still retained some semblance of self. Whether we are able to heal what has happened remains to be seen. In Star Trek 4 the Voyage Home humanities “shorted sightedness” was “fixed” by essentially the whales. Will we luck out again in Picard? We sure don’t know about the life we have now.

For me this season was very close at home sorta speak. Like Picard my mom had mental problems when I was young. And like Picard I learned at an older age my father has hidden a lot of it from me. Sad thing is I never got a change to thank him for it and telling him how wrong I was for calling him being mean to mother. Seeing Picard experiances this in the show really for me was well written and well acted by all involved as I know how realistic it could be.

I find it time dilation paradox to be very interesting and how they're going to do it in terms of the alternate timeline as well as the borg alternate timeline this is going to be very interesting to see how Picard the new crew and the old TNG crew work together to repair the temporal riff caused by the Borg as well as the romulan looker Q and the Younger less polished Guinien will also add to the interesting stories that were about to see in both season 2 and 3.

The future Romulans, the Vulcan "rebels" HAD warp capable vessels to go the 1000s of LYs away from the Homeplanet to start the Empire.

@@ThePopcast I believe that this happened a little time before that wholesale breakdown of the vulcan society because it couldn't have been at Surak's time because the breakdown and reversion into a no warp society was already ongoing and any seperating after the 1500 years to get star travel restored leaves too little time for an Empire to be established, so I think it was at least 1000 years before the Vulcan breakdown the Ambassador told the Admiral about in that "Vulcans fear humans?" clip from Enterprise.

Of course, the way things have gone this season, she still could be that Borg Queen. One more episode to go! Will things get wrapped up or a cliffhanger? Wow!

In the Star Trek: The Next Generation final scenes of the final episode, Q states that Picard is on the cusp of a new type of exploration. I always figured that Q was referencing not so much about space and/or time, but reality itself. The What If's. The What Could Be's. This is a large What If, with the time traveling. I mean if your omnipotent, and you have seen everything, and done everything, what do you have left to explore in all the cosmos? Other realities. And since there is the hypothesis that there is a multitude of unlimited realities where every single choice is different from each other, the end result's will never likely be the same. So at the end of ST:TNG Picard asks Q what he's talking about, and it almost looks like Q will tell him, but the pulls away. Alternate realities is all you have left to explore, once you have been everywhere, and done everything, and everything has been said. All you have left to explore is "What If".

Thanks for the post. Remember the TNG episode, "Parallels"? Worf kept jumping into different quantum states, which could be the same as different time lines. The Borg queen could read Picard's signature and eventually find a way to interface with that reality. No doubt taking a great deal of power. Her presentation, at the beginning, trying to assimilate the Federation fleet was wrong. Also, remember, Romulan's are ancestral brothers of Vulcans. Although they don't believe in time travel, you have to ask, do they have warp drive? What would be interesting is to see the aliens from the planet that recruited Gary 7, and find out why they are doing what they do and how far down the rabbit hole they go.

BTW, i love these time travel mysteries. It is not so much as looking at the big picture, but the devil is in the details. Back track it and find the origin point. What happens when Renee Picard returns with a sentient life form? What does it do? If this is a corrupted time line, is this the key point of corruption or did it occur before this? Seems like, if you are going to fix things, you would want to insure you fixed everything. In the original time line, there was no mention of a Europa mission. There was the Saturn mission and the Mars mission. What or who prompted this Europa mission? Will we see "Sean Jeffery Christopher", who commanded the first successful Saturn Probe??

I decided to dismiss the theory that it could be an alternative universe because of a few problems. If both the Borg and Q can be aware of a change in the time line then why wait till 2401 to intervene if it started by a small change in 2024, Intervention could have happened much earlier or at any other time before which beggars the question why?. Which leads me to that nothing may have happened until 2401 for some reason. When the Borg Queen was held captive on earth waiting for her execution she was clearly confused herself by what's happened but did understand that something had changed from one instance to another. She told Picard that there was a small change in 2024, but that doesn't mean time may have then changed gradually in a different direction to the year 2401. Q intervened when he spoke to Picard who was aware of the time change and also said don't worry you will have help in the form of your crew members which I can only imagine Q isolated them from the time change as well. The Borg Queen was also aware because of there ability like all Borg Queens to see a disturbance to time been changed. So what ever happened in 2024 didn't change time gradually it had to happen in 2401 instantly so that no one would be aware of it that had the ability to see it. In the escape scene where they allowed the Borg Queen to control the ship she managed to upgrade the ship with borg tech and destory the 2 Confederation ships with ease as if the Confederation ships were inferior to the Borg. So looking at that how could they have ever defeated the Borg. So my theory is that they never did defeat the Borg or any other worlds, time was just rewrote in an instance like removing someone from existence like when Q can click is fingers or someone changing someone's results on a test, basically cheating.

Those are certainly some good ideas about what's going on with Picard. That does make sense about your idea about Renee Picard being the reason why Soong becomes so revered. Maybe the thing she brings back from Io leads to some type of virus breaking out on Earth and that gives Soong the opportunity he needs to start to guide Earth into his vision for how it should be? But I think Kore or the Borg Queen are gonna kill Soong in episode 10 so I don't believe he will be able to lead Earth into it's xenophobic period. You're right about Tallin too. I can't figure out why there's a Romulan on Earth almost a 150 years before the Earth-Romulan War happened and Earth never had any contact with the Romulans prior to that war. They call her a "Supervisor" but I'm not sure if the Aegis would recruit a Romulan into their cause just because of how volatile they can be, emotionally. She definitely could be an enemy, especially if she's there to make sure that Renee Picard goes on her mission. Because then it's also possible that she could know that if Renee succeeds in bringing back whatever it is that she brings back from Io then Tallin might know that that would lead Earth into it's xenophobic era? It's all very confusing, isn't it? Oh and Terry Matalas wouldn't be able to explain what's going on either because he only wrote the first two episodes and then he went off to work on season 3. So the man responsible for the mess of this season is the other co-show runner of Picard: Akiva Goldsman. That's why Terry Matalas said that next season of Picard is what he would do with a Star Trek show IF he was the sole show runner of it. I guess 🤔 we'll find out where everything's going soon enough and, yes, I do think Juratti is the Borg Queen. I've been saying that since the very beginning and that's probably why they had the Borg Queen in the first episode of this season wearing that helmut so that it wouldn't spoil the surprise of Juratti turning into the Queen. If this theory is correct, they had an awesome idea for seasons 2 and 3 but it the execution they made (most of) season 2 boring and frustrating to a lot of fans. They could have said that the 2 seasons are just one story without revealing anything else, you know, to give some of us hope. The only thing that doesn’t work with this 3 timeline theory (that I can think of right now) is that the captured Borg queen told them that the point of divergence between the prime and corrupted timelines was 2024. That could be a lie, a mistake or something that disproves this theory. In the theory 2024 is a little bit different then our present 2022 and a lot different from 2024 described by past trek shows (the bell riots in SF and eugenics war stuff). This also means that they have spent almost a whole season chasing the wrong bad guy and causing the problem themselves.

You know...I was mad at the reviews and didnt watch it, but I started tonight and I kinda like it. imho If synthetics were separated from Data (because the show is not without its flaws), and you imagine picard as a man with PTS who's mad that the federation changed (which it definatly has done over the years in any timeline in different ways). Then yeah I think it has potential. I'll keep watching.

Talin could be a cause for everything. Talin is tasked by some time overlords to do something ~ protect renee. So, an original timeline COULD be where rene fails, so the time overlords send talin to change that and make her succeed. Similar to how gary7 was sent to prevent/change stuff. So, if Talin will change the timeline by helping renee succeed, Q could indeed have travelled back to stop Talin from changing the timeline when she would have helped renee.

I think this theory is just about right. The crew will be stuck in the Borg Queen timeline and die in the 21st century. But they will leave a message with Jurati Borg Queen to bring back to the future to help Picard. The Jurati Borg queen will then jump timelines 400 years later in the 25th century and encounter the Stargazer in the Prime timeline. I rewatched the first scene in Episode 1 (where the Stargazer exploded) and the second scene where it explodes right before Q and the "corrupted timeline". They are not the exact same events. In the first scene while the security team is running to the turbo lift the computer says, "warp field collapse eminent." This is not stated the second time. Also, in the first time around Picard does not hesitate to start the self-destruct. I think in this version they are in a more direct battle with the Borg ship (hence the warp field collapse). During the second time Picard hesitates and Seven pleads with him before he starts the self-destruct. I think the first scene in episode 1 is what creates the time paradox. This might not be the Jurati Borg Queen, but simply another Borg Queen who jumps timelines. I think the second scene is a second (or maybe more than second) time through the time loop. This time it is the Jurati Borg Queen. In Episode 9 or 10 will be the third (or maybe later) time through the loop and Jurati and Picard will be able to trust each other and communicate that the Borg really are coming in peace and there are no monsters to fear. This time the Stargazer will not explode and the primetime line will continue into season 3. In one of the various times through the loop Picard and crew will have accidentally created the Confederacy timeline by having Soong become the savor of Earth.

Y'all are Not interpreting this time-play correctly at all. Renee going on the mission is a good thing. Missing it is bad. Jurati/Queen isn't a future hybrid punching back through multiple realities just to create YET ANOTHER branch. She's a baby queen in the 21st Cen earth. She just has to stay behind to get a few hundred freebie years (presuming Picard, et all crew return to the "present" from perspective of the show's events.) This would be uninterrupted time to grow the Borg however TsHhEeY decide as a unit what their new philosophy and values truly are. So the big flash of JQueen's spiky mothership appearing is likely just a transwarp conduit. Common faster-than-faster-than-light travel for the Borg. Not time travel. In fact TsHhEeY is the (frmr) crew who time travels the least. Were they jumped into the future after Q sends the timeline on a tumble..? Can't recall. Beside that possibility, the Queen takes them back. Then takes J. From here her best bet is regrouping in the past amongst wolf pups who've not yet grown claws...Going back only once at season outset. Then just sticking out the clock. And whatever assistance she may need from Picard, its not going to be a twisty ending secret bad-guy crew member there isn't any misrepresentation on Q's behalf. Renee needs to be on the mission. Any contradictions, real or imagined, are the consequence of weak writing; poorly thought out. Lastly, that the war is looming ever closer overhead is not a clue to some included Shyamalian twist, indicating that some EXTREME change is the only hope for _salvation,_ rather than destruction. Instead I think the point is that by sticking to our morals, supporting our family, whatever that looks like, and never giving up on the basic goodness of other people, that it's literally never too late to turn stuff around. No matter how dark the road. No matter how high the tide. WW3 months away? It's still possible to rebuild what will be a mass destruction event, and with any luck not a world-killer. Just have to look forward together. But if you keep seeing switchbacks and plots within plots supported by twists, more power to ya. But I do fundamentally disagree both with the contrivance, and the gap between this and Roddenberry's message of the future. Although Q being the hero all along is kinda his MO. From his own perspective, as least. Ours (audience) too, I'd hazard. But he also VERY much set events into play. The phrase "greater good" comes to mind.

I noted on my FB page during the first episode how much this season's opening reminded me of Dr. Who. I can even hear notes of his theme in the music. I knew then it was gonna be a hairy scary time wimey romp. That being said... I can"t help but believe that we'll see the only man that hated the Borg as much as Picard, is a scion of a species that exist outside linear time, that Q said would be " much easier than Picard ( he must have known his lineage ) and that " intimidates ", Worf-Son of Mogh of the House of Martok : Benjamin LaFayette Sisko. Think about it, with a peaceful Borg, ( who have always been the Daleks of Star Trek ) there is no Battle of Wolf 359. No Battle of Wolf 359 ; Jennifer Sisko lives and Commander, later Captain Sisko never gets assigned to Bajor. Therefore, the Alpha Quadrant is naked before the Dominion onslaught , the Pah Wraiths run amok and : presto changeo, new timeline. The Prophets/ Wormhole Aliens have to figure in this, as well as other sentient Chronal Beings, like the Guardian of Forever. We know that this is just the end of the beginning that a temporal war is coming in a century or two or three. Who's to say what is or is not the Prime timeline. You Haters know this is FUN!!!! Q told Guinan that Humans "all exist in the past". That's what the Prophets taught Sisko In : Emissary. Season 3 is gonna be wild

Well, I’m glad someone else noted True Detective season 1. When watching this show I’ve often said Welcome to Carcosa says the Yellow King, and their confusing philosophy of time. That’s ok you can kill me now, but we’ll return to do this all over again. The other is the Anorax changing the timeline, only to find he never gets his wife back. The only way his wife returns is Janeway destroys Anorax’s time ship. Many people hated the reset, meaning it never happened and Voyager went on it’s merry way. Not so fast, because it ends with a view of Anorax’s calculations, that the same thing was going to happen again just like the phylosophical view of those following The Yellow King. I noticed so much down right Noir aspects to this season of Picard. The interrogation of Guinan and Picard in an evidence locker with the wires cut to the camera. Did some agents take cocaine, just wondering. Your theory is plausible.

Mistake - killing Picard off. Mistake 2 - claiming that forcing his appearance and memories on an innocent newly born android is him. Said android behaves not like Picard but like a mentally unbalanced unsure creature. It also makes the claim androids are sentient and equal a farce and that human life is also meaningless - just copy a human memory and throw it on an android or robot and pretend the person is the same and life / death /individuality are meaningless. Mistake 3 - Q dying - REALLY?! So much for his people being immortal beings.

Lol at the Jurati/Queen musical performance and at one of the last scenes when JuratiBorg takes off his helmet (very extra-large lol). The only powerfull remarkable *Question* is: What the hell wants the first Borg queen at the very beginning of the season? Notice that she (who else otherwise?) starts playing the song "Non, je ne regrette rien". This may sounds like an absurd: After all, she has not yet melt with Dr Jurati, she's a conqueror, an assimilator! The *only* possible answer is that, because of her quantic capabilities/sensibility to be connected and somehow aware to all timelines and possibilities, actually she was here with the intention of prevent the galactic threat, already knowing the exitus of Q interference or psychoanalytic test. I like all of this stuff, I have also been of the opinion that their assumption Q has been the cause of the timeline split has been a false assumption fueled by Picard's insistence that Q has been an enemy. This whole season's setup has been about Picard being unwilling to be anything other than the hero in the right. Q says early on "Show them a world of their own making and they ask what you've done" and I took that as indication that it is Picard's actions that corrupted the timeline. But over the progress of the season it's clear he is joking about ruler Picard and that this whole season is way simpler then anything I was cooking up. I've enjoyed the ride for what is is, but I honestly think the remaining twist has already been revealed. The watcher is Laris, who has not become Laris yet. Q caused the timeline corruption so that Picard would learn what he could become without being more open. And the borg learning the power of friendship just seem like a cool fan fiction thing to do.

11:43 well the writers don’t know much about the Borg saying in ep8 and ep9 that this would give the Borg a 400 year head start, problem is the first earth date we have as a reference for what the Borg were doing is back in the 1400s (I don’t know the episode name but this was in Voyager) when they had already assimilated several solar systems, by the time we hit Picard season 2s past the Borg would already be at about the tech level we first saw them at back in TNG. So the writers knowing that the Romulans don’t have warp yet is not something ied count on.

Picard activating the auto-destruct was a pretty big cop out on his part. How in gods name could he not know what trusting the Borg meant? You have to show strength to the Borg, peaceful Borg or not, and that should be a given to everybody at this point. I’m thinking the auto destruct is what created the divergence. A warp core breech right next to a sub space anomaly. That would be consistent with Star Trek theory. Of course with these writers, may just be a coincidence 🙄

Considering their previous experience with the Borg it’s not surprising that they took the route they did with the self destruct. Seven kind of urged him to do it as well. Why Borg Juratti wouldn’t explain more before assimilating the ship makes little sense.
