Melt and pour soap is definitely good for the beginning soap maker, and it produces soap of really good quality. I've been making my own cold process soap for years now, and yes, it does require lye and extra care. I started making soap because (1) I'm not a fan of the many toxic ingredients in commercial soaps, (2) I'm allergic to many artificial scents - They trigger my asthma, and (3) My budget is like a tourniquet. Making your own soap is so inexpensive, makes wonderful gifts, and if need be, I can sell it to make extra money. I also make my own laundry soap - Much safer to use than the toxic commercial stuff.

Absolutely Carol, It is comforting to know what is in the products we are using in our homes and especially on ourselves. Making your own makes sense , especially because it works out cheaper too. So many wins!

I just started making soap. I am using melt and pour now. But I am scared to do cold process soaps. Way too much science for my brain. 😅 but I wanna do it so bad but I’m so scared I’m gonna screw it up and waste time and money. 🙃

Those soaps look beautiful Elissa! I use hand made soaps as they are so much better on my skin. The honey and oats is a great combination too💕 Hope you are staying warm in this chilly weather lovely xx Cathi xx 😘

The Honey and Oats is lovely and yes Cathi, I am working by the fire today. It' made it up to 6C (but they say it felt like 3C) and is already cooling down for another frozen night. It has been lovely seeing some sunny days though. 🌞 - Elissa 💕

Is it safe to inhale the melt and pour soap while it heats?

I made this soap today. Love your way of making the soap. I don't prefer putting all the dry stuff in my soap. Makes the bathroom floor messy.

New subscriber from Scotland here 🙂 I found you recently looking for tincture ideas. But I was looking at goats milk melt and pour soap base the other day wondering how to add things to it! Many thanks! 🙂

Looks great! I’ve ordered melt and soap making supplies to learn to do this. Me and my mother both have sensitive skin, so I’m hoping to make a gentle bar. 🙂 I need some exfoliation in my soap too, so grinding down the oats is a great idea. I saw a video with whole pieces of oats and didn’t think that looked too good about falling apart when using. I wonder if some kind of pastry bag could be used to keep it from going all over when pouring into the mold, or a funnel. I have some small kitchen funnels.

I'm sure that would smell delicious too . Haha. Our skin is our biggest organ, we might as well treat it with the best and that soap would be beautiful to use . I haven't done melt and pour but I jave done from scratch goats milk soap and its wonderfulfor our sensitive skin . I buy it locally at the moment but hopefully soon I'll make my own again. Thank you for sharing lovely 😊❤

Can I use instant oatmeal? If not, off to the store I go 😊

Hi! I saw a video where they suggested not to use instant. Quite frankly I think rolled oats are healthier anyway.
