They usually mess it up with fusion cuisines etc. ending up with a huge mess that they think taste good but is an insult to the actual cultures that the dishes represent. If a non Indian Australian says he/she made an Indian curry just run away.

My dad is Maltese and ever since I was a kid, he added peas to EVERYTHING. Can a fellow Maltese person help me understand the Maltese obsession with putting peas in everything?

My Dad always adds peas to his sauce! I grew up like this too. His family is originally from Southern Italy.

Pudina ... not Puddina . Having said that ... Maltese in Australia tend to stick to tradition way more than we are doing here. Makes me sad in a way. So much tradition is being lost with every passing generation.

its because most of our grandparents who came here weren't allowed to speak maltese or really celebrate their culture...im 3rd generation maltese and Im unfortunately disconnected from my cultural roots.

The chef had horrible pronunciation of Maltese! I'm half Maltese and find a lot of Maltese Australians really obnoxious when they come to Malta .....
