Ive got 3 teenage boys, and they're just lovely 😭 they think im lame, the 17 and 13 year old are both moody, but still sweet lol. My 18 year old is barely home because he graduated this summer and got a job, when he is home he likes to play video games and only emerges from his room to be fed 😅 i love them, but them growing up is so bittersweet. Oh my goodness, your kids are so dang cute!! Wolfgang has grown sooo much! Please don't doubt yourself-you do you. I'm 63 and never felt peer pressure till I had my kids. I had twins and joined the "Mothers of twins" club. Then it started. Tilly is sitting up, Johnny is crawling, Sadie is potty trained. I quit the club and just did me. Best decision I ever made. Everyone blooms at different times. Enjoy every moment. They'll be off to college in a blink of an eye.

Finally in Canada we have an equivalent to Thrive Market. It's called Rise Market. So happy as Thrive doesn't deliver to Canada. I totally agree about the new mom stuff. This is ur 5th child I think u have it figured out what ur doing and what works for ur kids. People shouldn't baby shame. We all have our own ways of doing things with our kids after all aa the parents we are the ones with them and know what works. Also Thumper says "if u can't say something nice don't say nothing at all". Bambi as my oldest daughter's favorite movie when she was a kid. I love the Ikea ziploc bags too the sizes are great and they are thicker than some others. Texas chili doesn't have beans and it's not made with ground beef but rather stewing meat.

When I was a young Mom, I had 4 boys 4 & under (no twins) It had a photo of a woman sitting in a rocking chair holding her baby & the Caption said this: Quiet down cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep. That kept me sane. Really. Their Father worked all over the state on a Road construction crew & he was rarely home. As I looked around at the shambles and chaos around me I just read that poem and I kept rocking my baby. Now they are in their 40’s and they think having 2 children is SO hard lol life does go by so fast Kim. You are doing an amazing job. Dear Kim, I had three babies and never had a sound machine. MY Mom had 5 kids without a sound machine, three aunts had 10, 8 and 6 babies without a sound machine in the “ old” days….and all babies fell asleep just fine without the sound machine or singing! My kids slept through noise…everyday noise, tv, people, dog noise! I think today so much crap is out there they people are pushed to “ buy””, buy, buy”’. I didn’t sing to m babies but hummed right against their little heads and off they went to the land of nod. You’re a great Mom and don’t worry about the ones that Mom shame. You just raise those babies how you and Alex see fit and not to anyone else’s standards! You do so much and are just amazing and doing the best you can! Delegating sucks for many reasons! I’m already overwhelmed, if I have to redo something or make another decision I’ll scream…and my toxic trait is it’s just easier to do it myself. Bean soup?? Just made a pot yesterday, delicious! IKEA ziplocks are the BOMB! I go twice a year and stock up!! Besides the “bigger the kid the bigger the problem” thing, the teens have been my favorite so far, loved my cute babies but now they’re funny, they’re nice, they play games with rules and I can’t beat them! OMG Kim when you said " Eleanor or Meredith, whatever her name is, is playing legos right now" I burst out laughing. I felt it on a cellular level, I too am the Mom of 5. When I've got too much going on I often start saying my kids names and never seem to say the correct name so I then resort to saying " You know who you are ". I always tell people that even during stressful times I always remember how thankful that I am that I have been able to have the family that I always wanted. My children are older than yours but I agree with you each stage becomes your favorite. There is something quite amazing in being able to watch your little tiny baby grow and evolve over the years. Oh dear! I have so many thoughts running around in my head. First, Wolfgang is absolutely adorable. That smile just lit up my heart! I have studied brain development for over 30 years. I love what you say about the advancing stages of childhood. You nailed it. Each stage brings with it a new way to look at your child. A new set of challenges to manage through, and disorganization of the child learning to cope and parents learning to do right by their child. It certainly is a time to celebrate the good work parents have accomplished during the last phase. It led their child to this new stage. If we could all step back and realize it isn’t always a reflection of our parenting that brings forth challenge. It is also due in part to brain and child development. Let’s stop judging parents and start celebrating what they do right. The same with children. You are the perfect parent for your child. No need to measure yourself against anyone else. Xoxoxo

Oh Kim, this really resonates. Motherhood is the hardest job. I love the, "doing my best" mentality. I certainly need to hear it from time to time. You are truly a rockstar!Rockstar! ETA: I have to agree. I have 16yo twin girls and a 12yo son. I loved taking care of them in the earlier years and I love who they are now. All the stages are special and wonderful. They key is enjoying and appreciating each and every stage.

No mom guilt. I sleep with a fan on, all year round. If it goes off for any reason i wake up immediately. Sound machines are great for babies and really work.

I wish computers and youtube had been around when my girls were growing up. I always felt isolated and frustrated.i had to read a lot of books. It would have been helpful to have been connected with other mothers'. BTW, I love it when Jen Chapin flashed that nano second of you doing a Lily Tomlin face when you mess up a recipe.. It's a great compliment to you.

The sound machine is the number one thing I recommend to new moms! Also hate the "wait until" speech. I love my kids ages right now! 13, 11, and 9! I'm enjoying them growing up.

Kim, you seem to be an amazing mother. Your job is to put your baby to bed and try to get him to sleep, not sing to him if that is not your thing. The sound machine works for your son and that is what is important. Happy New Year!!
