I brought Gu (the stuff marathon runners eat during races) to my last delivery (baby #5 and an induction). It worked amazingly well to boost my energy and is still *technically* a liquid. There’s nothing worse than having a long labor and running out of energy because you cannot eat.

But also everyone knows that eating during labor is wayyy worth the minor risk of aspiration so I don’t know why medicine won’t just catch up. Boycotting any hospitals that don’t allow it

For my first pregnancy I watched so many videos like this and I packed everything I thought I would need, it ended up being to much I found that all I really needed was the toiletries, pillow, snacks, phone charger and outfit to come home in and that’s it, and that might still be too much. the hospital really provides everything you need even toiletries I’m on my second pregnancy and I plan on packing as little as possible.

Not every hospital provides everything. most only provide the bare minimum so it would be crucial for new mommas to pack the basics. That's great to hear your hospital provided a lot of stuff.

If you want essential oil for smelling and it’s not allowed you can always have a zip lock bag with some cotton balls soaked in the oil and that way you can smell them as much as you need and just in case you hate the smell all of a sudden you can just put the bag away and not have that smell everywhere

I’d say a stroller fan to put on your bed, your personal meds, a peri bottle with a bend (easier to use), fluffy towel or small pillow for car, and a going home dress. I always need a fan for air movement/noise. I brought my own daily probiotics, antidepressants, and stool softeners. The peri bottle with a bend because the one at the hospital is more like a water bottle and may be harder to maneuver/messy. Fluffy towel/ small pillow in case of csection because riding in the car home with a fresh incision can be painful/intimidating and having a barrier between you and the waist seat belt is super comforting. Going home dress option, again because possible csection, in case you decide you don’t want any clothing touching your incision.

2 things I was recommended and cannot recommend enough: super thick and soft toilet paper and a Péri bottle to rinse the vulva each time after using the restroom. Long live Pijamas! I did get out of the hospital in one! Can't remember if I had no more clean pants or if I just really wanted that comfort! 😂

This is a Iot 😅 im on my 4th pregnancy and im literally only planning on taking our leaving outfits, chargers for phone, nursing bra and pads and some shower shoes. Thats probably it. The hospital i am delivering at supplies all baby needs, stretchy underwear and pads, even the spray for down there i even ask them for toiletries extra pillows and a cup for water. I personally dont see the need to take my own pillows or pjs cuz for my 3rd i took my comfy pjs and i ended up with a lot of after bleeding that i had to stay in a gown so they could constantly check me. I would suggest if its available a tour of the birthing unit or maybe just ask your dr what they supply so you dont have to carry too much cuz you end up having to lug everything back out including all the paperwork and stuff they give you

@martylost167
@martylost167 3 ай бұрын
From the dad point of view, 2 bags. Like 1 mother said " Your purse is all you need till the baby is born." We were in L&D for 30 hours, walking, delivery room, surgery, recovery and then the room. You get dope and your helper has to drag your stuff around. Your helper can bring the second bag to the room and help you get ready for the 1st family picture to text around the world. When your admitted you might as well get naked and be ready to use a sheet to cover up. Yes, when your in your room the lady can be prim and proper with the nursing bra, bloomers, lipstick, makeup, etc. 30 years later that 1st family picture and birth announcement hanging on the wall will be precious everyday you pass it. Never kink your epidural tube. Never wear anything that might kink your epidural tube. The pain will come for about an hour while they figure that out and say "You'll be ok in a few minutes!". Wrong, minutes turn into half an hour and then an hour. They can not give you a pill unless your Doctor approves it.

I'm on baby #5. I usually live in the hospital gown until it's time to go home 😅 then i usually have a pair of maternity leggings and a loose shirt to wear home. With my 4th I don't think I even showered before leaving we were trying to get home as quick as we could so I just showered once we got home 😂 our local hospital provides everything like the tucks and the spray and all the mesh undies and pads. I usually use those there and then depends at home. I really love the Earth Mama nipple butter because it doesn't have to be washed off like the lanolin and it didn't stain

While they’re in the hospital still, a diaper and a few blankets will probably be enough. If they’re diapered and swaddled, then everything is covered (minus the head/hat) and kept warm, and if baby needs a check-up or skin-to-skin, all you have to do is undo the blanket.

I also recommend learning how to use your car seat youll be bringing to the hospital. My husband and i had one but had no idea how to strap the baby in and the nuese we had refused to help us. She sat in a chair in the corner belittling us because we didnt know how to use it yet. Afrer a half hour of us atruggling and my baby crying, she finally helped. Even if your planning on having a home birth, be prepared to go to the hospital. We had no items with us and that was WAY more stressful than me being in labor for 46 hours. Be orepared for all contingencies, even if your midwife swears up and down you wont have to go to the hospital.
