This is just a small attempt from our side to celebrate a Great Actor. The initial idea revolved around the making of a Documentary on the Actor Mammootty.
"Through the eyes" was just the beginning of something that got stuck in between.
Sharing it for everyone as a reference study and mark of respect to the amazing representation of the Art of Acting by the amazing artist over a career spanning decades in South Indian Cinema.

He is really the most important case study in method acting and also in natural acting too. No hesitation to call him one of the best 2 method actors in india. His vidheyan always reminds me of the great daniel day lewis "there will be blood" only because of the complete transformation without any serious make up change.

He is more than daniel day lewis for me. These are the reasons. 1.complete transformation which you said which is method acting. 2. Use of Nuanced acting with silence and stares like in peranbu and lot of other movies. (Mohanlal cannot transform but do nuanced acting. ) 3.Voice modulation. 4.More character films than any other actor in the world 50-100 great characters A lot hollywood actors just dont do much roles because one is they will loose their value. 2nd is they never do masala movies. 3rd is many of the hollywood actors are great actors because they graduated from an Acting institute. But in india their is few professional actors. We just dont need to be obessed with hollywood and america. We also make great films.

But when comparing on their acting methods, we can see our actors are transforming within short periods making it much more believable esply mammooty's transformation, while they are preparing the charctr for months. I alwys wonder when watching amaram, the layers of variations he delivered, along with body language, voice control and sometimes spontaneous acting and like u said.. The silence internal acting. When it comes to spontaneous performance.. Mohanlal always leads with his immense ability, but i have also witnessed it with mammootty in amaram, thaniyavarthanam, bhoothakkanadi, palunk.. Etc..
