Parents shouldn't get any money from insurance policies for accidental (or homicidal) death of children. They should be able to have funeral costs covered and that's it! No true loving parent would want any money related to the death of their children if it's a true accident. Parents don't need to be reimbursed for the death of their children.

Parents need time to grieve. I have a policy for my children that is 10k. I think that would cover funeral costs and bills for time off for my husband. If all the money has to go towards funeral, then so be it. Sane people are not looking to benefit from the death of someone they loved. I made the decision because it can be used their whole life and I don't want to have to wonder how can I afford to bury my precious angels. It's not about money.

To be fair people tend to not be experts in diagnosing others specially the family, there could be the chance that he was still alive and just because of assumptions that chance could have taken away, that's why the operator had to asked I imagine it would be different if the person says "my son was decapitated" zero chances of living there
